    Hi all!

I've got a CF-18 dual RF dock in my truck right now. I just won an auction for a CF-19 mk6(? - it's a CF-19AFU). Wondering if the dock I have will work with the later CF-19 models. Seems to be not much info out there on this.

Hoping I don't have to dump some money into a new dock but I guess we'll see.

    Thanks!

It's MK5. Your current dock station will work, but officially it's incompatible with mk5+ because newer toughbooks are more power hungry - Mobile (not ULV) CPU's etc. Sometimes this dock will not be able to charge battery of the powered on mk5, and you may have problems under high CPU loads.
Old dock has 3.75A (or even 2.5A) max current if I remember it right.
So it's like plugging in old 2.5A ac adapter instead of 4.5A.

Thanks for the info! Interesting that the dock is what limits the charge current, as they typically just have a plug for a regular AC/vehicle charger on the back.

Another member years ago had a early CF-19 MK1-2 dock and later got a MK4,5,6 and something else wouldn't work. Maybe one of the antenna ports out on the dock. I he didn't report any charge problems, but I haven't personally tried my MK5 with any of the CF-18/19 docks I have.

My main concern is in fact the antenna ports since that's one of the main uses for my toughbook in the car. I've got external GPS and WWAN antennas which are very nice to have.

I guess I'll try it out when the new one gets here. Will make sure to report back. Looks like CF-19 docks aren't too much from the usual sites so that's an option if this doesn't work out.

I think the early CF-19 dock is basically the same as the 18 dock, they came out with a new dock part number for the 19.

(looked a little more, found reference to MK1-3 docks are the same then the Mk4 up docks are different.) don't have the part numbers handy though. I will have to go back though my 19 guide and see if I wrote the info in there are had a link to the info at the bottom. When I wrote that thread a Mk3 was the highest model I had at the time.
