Yeah well the paint on the toughbook is plastic based and will be etched by the stop theft tattoo if applied correctly. It is supposed to be an acid etching that supposedly binds at the molecular level.

This is an honest comment, maybe i'm ignorant on the subject:
TB's have Mg Cases. Are they painted? Even if they are, the etch may stick to the paint, but the paint may be able to come off? -
No they are not bare magnesium they are painted silver.

In my experience, the silver paint used on the Toughbook cases seems very inert.
That's why we use a dremel to engrave our company name and details on our Toughbooks. -
Thank God magnesium alloy is so resilient against EVERYTHING and the corporation who put these stupid stickers on is to damn stupid to realize this... -
