    Yeah well the paint on the toughbook is plastic based and will be etched by the stop theft tattoo if applied correctly. It is supposed to be an acid etching that supposedly binds at the molecular level.

    This is an honest comment, maybe i'm ignorant on the subject:

    TB's have Mg Cases. Are they painted? Even if they are, the etch may stick to the paint, but the paint may be able to come off?

    It depends on the chemistry of the paint.

    In my experience, the silver paint used on the Toughbook cases seems very inert.

    That's why we use a dremel to engrave our company name and details on our Toughbooks.

    They MOST DEF DO etch plastic... If I was talking about iBooks here I wouln't have even started this topic as I KNOW that there is NOTHING that could be done here... I've ripped these off of iBooks in the past... NOT GOOD LOL!

    Thank God magnesium alloy is so resilient against EVERYTHING and the corporation who put these stupid stickers on is to damn stupid to realize this...
