My orig post#43 to Gear6 Post # 40, Where I first broke into the thread is below here

(#43)Hello Gear6, Please excuse my interruption on this POST/thread. This is my first contribution hopefully of this Forum.

I resently purchased a used CF-19,MK3...with a Gobi card. However I had the seller remove the card. I now regret that move and I'm considering adding a 3G GOBI2000 with GPS built in to the card. After reading every Internet post, forum google search and eBay...I'm convinced I need to be cautious making this purchase. In particular I see many different sources for these cards, however they rarely offer much (if any) information as to the the particular laptop/netbook...or device the item is compartable with. I've been hoping to narrow this down to finding the correct part number.
I've just send an email to Heartland Services as recommended by this forum as the best source for Panasonic parts. (pasted email below)>

    Dear Sir(s),

The suggestion that Heartland Services is the place to go to is offered by: "http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/427461-read-before-posting-ultimate-toughbook-resource-thread"

My inquiry may be appropriate or not. I'm hoping to chase down a part number.

My Panasonic Laptop is a a model CF-19, mk3 (cf-19khragam) currently running Microsoft XP pro SP2.

This laptop was originally equipped with a Gobi WWAN module (card) prior to my purchasing it. I asked the seller to remove this card. It was removed. I'm now having second thoughts and Now I'm considering adding the card back in. This is where I run into some concerns. Which card to I need? My preference would be to have a 3G GOBI2000 with the built-in GPS. Looking at whats inside my laptop I believe I have everything required except the actual Gobi card. This is based on the assumption that the existing antenna(s) are correct. I can offer pictures and/or part numbers of the antennas if required. Maybe this isn't an issue. I'm not 100% sure on this concern.

Can you assist? An actual Sierra Wireless Part number which is a known compatible part matching my CF-19, Mk3 I feel shouldn't be that difficult to chase down. I've been looking for for several days....I've read maybe every available internet source I can find. Most of the sources don't even use the part number.

    Your feedback is fully appreciated,

    Sincerely,
    (end of pasted email)

Your post as quoted below makes some references to FCC & IC numbers..
My first question to you is: Are this pertinent? I've attached a two jpeg files for your review. The front view picture has a number in the middle at the bottom edge near the pins (plug). Does this number mean anything to a potential buyer? Is it a part number?

Ebay has a card up Item:151019379196
This listing offer the following part number as part of the Description
pasted here>>>PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK CF-31 INTEGRATED GOBI MODEM GOBI2000 GPS Unlocked(Origina)

    PANASONIC PART Number:1100984/1100985
    including the following text
    100%tested working(Panasonic Toughbook CF-31)

    Compatible with: Panasonic Toughbook CF-19/CF-30/CF-31

Panasonic Mobile Computer from AT&T, T Mobile, Bigpond, Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, O2, Plus,Orange,Sprint or Verizon Wireless.<<<

I'm thinking perhaps you and maybe Heartland Services might be good sources for this inhformation. Any help is appreiciated. This is a serious problem I feel for most Panasonic Toughbook owners.

Small bubble envelope, inside a plastic case from a expresscard modem, containing the card in an anti-static bag.
Anywas, let's get to the point:
    * BAD news: it's not Panasonic branded (CSA, Panasonic Gobi2k Driver package doesn't recognize it (Gobi2000 device not found)
    * FCC ID: N7NGOBI2, IC: 2417C-GOBI2 seems to be a Fujitsu Card, with VendorId: 1199, ProductId: 9000 rev2.
    * good news (finally): it's not the Chinese version, i.e. it doesn't need special drivers.
I found the Fujitsu Gobi2k Package here installed it, and there you go, I now have 3 devices (Modem, Diag, and NMEA).
3G works, GPS works, firmware is from 01.2010, and the driver is vanilla, from Qualcomm (05.2010).

all this on 30mk1. tomorow, I'll check it out on the 19.

kudos to Fujitsu, for that they don't restrict their gobi driver install to their laptops only.

    Hello,

Thank you for your continued support of Panasonic Toughbook computers.

The CF-19K(mk3) does not support Gobi2000 only the Gobi1000 which is no longer in production.

This model cf-19KHRAGAM shipped with the Gobi 1000 which was made by Qualcom

    Good afternoon,

    The CF-19KHRAGAM will only take a GOBI1000, not GOBI2000. GOBI2000
starts with the CF-19 mk4 and up.

You are correct that there is GPS functionality with the GOBI1000. You
could also add a full out GPS kit to it which I priced below. From what
I've heard from customers, the embedded GPS in the GOBI1000 isn't the
greatest and you would get much better functionality putting the GPS kit
    in your unit.

    Good morning,

I will be glad to assist you. Your unit, CF-19KHRAGAM, can only support
GOBI 1000. The part # for the GOBI 1000 module is T77Z039.02 and is
    priced at $159.92.

GPS is a separate module. The part # for the GPS kit is CF-WGP192 and
is priced at $349.11. Shipping is additional based on what is ordered,
    starting at $25.

If you would like to send this in for us to retrofit, add roughly $200
    for labor/diagnostics and return shipping.

These prices are valid for 30 days.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Thank you,

I now have one part number for a Gobi1000 card....however I'd like to confirm the existing antennas are correct. FYI: the other item (the GPS is for a stand alone kit and isn't WWAN or Gobi related). The Gobi1000 card has the imbedded GPS feature on board...I believe!!!).]

this post is an update (a year & a half later) Having made no real progress since starting this effort I will post a scanned image of what may be an actual Gobi1000 card (as reported by the Ebay seller). This card is meant to be installed in a model cf-19KHRAGAM. I haven't had the time or inclination to install it. Sellers descrition: "100% working item (GOBI 1000 Locked PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK Only)
    sold with warranty
    paypal accepted
shipping from chicago land (proton computers, lombard, IL 60148)
power vendor with 10000 plus positive rating on ebay alone.
item is a working pull (sold for GOBI 1000 Locked PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK only )
what you see in the picture is what you get.
    original item pictured."
what I received are my scanned images
    gobi card for cf-19 mk3 (front view).jpg gobi card for cf-19 mk3 (back view).jpg

I would like to invite anybody with any comments or confirmation as to this card being correct and in current use in their CF-19 mk3.

thk's in advance. One of these days I'll try to verifiy this my self and will post the results por & con

YES that looks exactly like a Gobi 1000 card I pulled from a TB (19 I think).
