    Greetings,

I have recently come to own a CF-19C Toughbook and immediately began installing Windows Vista Business 2007 SP2 onto it. The touch screen was not functioning at the end of the instal, so I did a few hours of research then work to get the needed drivers. I spent a little more time reading the Instal Instruction and performed them as written. However, my problem arose immediately when I was instructed to update the driver for the Panasonic Misc Driver.

The required hardware is the ACPI/MAT0021 device, unfortunately I do not have one. I have ...0019 and ...0020 but not ... ACPI/MAT0021. Now this leads me to ask a few questions.
    1) Do I even have the required hardware within this laptop for the touch screen and accompanied stylus to work?
    2) Am I looking under the wrong heading (Other Devices --> Unknown Device) to find the item that needs updating?
    3) Did I select the wrong version of Vista and this version doesn't even recognize the existence of the ...0021?
    4) Should I obtain the drivers for my motherboard and attempt installing Windows XP Tablet 2005?

    Many thanks before hand.

    VR,
    Me

    Welcome to the Toughbook forum
As Jeff said we need your full model number to help you. If this is your first Toughbook then you got some reading to do because this thing is no Dell :D. Your best bet is to pick up the restore/recovery dist for it. This will load you OS,COA and drivers for you...what it is , is a image of the harddrive when it left the factory. It takes about 35-40 minutes to install and you are done. Check this auction out New Original Panasonic Toughbook CF 19 MK1 Recovery DVD ROM Other Accessories | eBay . This maybe the one you need, this is why we need to know your model number because there is a Digitizer model and Touchscreen model

Do not buy them CHEAP restore/recovery disk you see on ebay that are home made with all the drivers on them...they are TRASH...waste of money since you can download all the drivers for free from Panasonic.

If your CF-19 originally came with XP installed you will need to upgrade the bios and EC for Vista to work properly.

There are two BIOS update programs for CF-19[C/D] series:

Bios_19_1_r070207.exe - For upgrading to Windows Vista from Windows XP
    After executing this program,
BIOS will be V1.01L16 and Embedded Controller will be V1.10L11.

Bios_19_1_r080013.exe - For re-downgrading to Windows XP from Windows Vista
    After executing this program,
BIOS will be V1.00L16 and Embedded Controller will be V1.00L11.

Vista bios and EC available here:

Is this the one you are trying to install ? When I did the upgrade to my CF-19C I never had a problem. Could we have your model number...do not take it from the bottom of the 19...get it from the BIOS screen.

Yes. That is the bios I'm trying to install. I get the error I posted above when I execute the installer.
I've installed by double clicking, by right click run as , and the cmd line. Same error.

    And the model number is:
    CF-19CJG33BM
    and
    CF-19DJG30BM

I get the same error trying to update both of these CF-19 Mark 1 models.

    Cjg33bm has
    Bios. V1.00L13 M20
    Emb cont. v1.00L11

    Cf-19 djg30bm
    Bios. V1.10L13
    Emb cont. v1.00L11

But I've heard from my Panasonic rep. That these are NOT upgradable. Thanks for trying to help though.

This was all in an effort to update the touchscreens. And I got that done without updating the bios.

    Thank you.

I used a cf-18 hotkey + driver for the mat0021. Worked well. Got rid of the bang in device manager.
