So, I bought this (LR9548S) from ToughDepot :
Panasonic Toughbook CF 19 GPS Kit | eBay
Installed it after trying to sort out where to mount it (no instructions online, closest is another card), here's what I did:

Went into BIOS, set GPS to Auto, past that, device can't be located, no idea if I installed right (directions suggested say one ribbon cable connector up, the other down, this thing only has contacts with both cable contacts up, but pin 1 on one end connects to pin 12 on the other connector......)
Downloaded a simple GPS tester, nothing, MS Streets and Maps GPS scan, nothing...... what did I do wrong and where?

If you are showing GPS in BIOS you should have it installed right. I am not sure what the baud rate for that GPS is suppose to be set at as I haven't installed mine into my 19 Mk2 project yet. The baud rate and channel has to be right before anything will show up.
-
Scan went through most of the channels and swapped between 4800 and 9600 each before moving onto the next Com channel. Read 4800 is the only rate these things will work at, but I'm running out of hair trying to get an indication I did install right, as only the BIOS shows anything GPS, but not sure if that's there even without one installed.

You have an IRq conflict. Power off the unit then reboot and go to bios. Set it to default setting and save. I have already posted here how to but I don't know where it is now. Also you may change the Com port assign to those port not in use. GPS baudrate of those module is set to 4800.
Btw, You installed corectly based on the picture you posted. Only diference is the antena cable seems to be to short or I think you loop it in on the antena case.

I rebooted and went into BIOS again, hit default settings, this is a freshly refurbished CF-19C and nothing changed. Still no GPS detection using scan in MS Streets and maps.
Cable you see from the antenna is only about 2"-3" long, is very short. Is a new OEM GPS unit BTW, I don't think a driver is needed, Panasonic says it's not. My first CF-29 I had similar issues with my external USB antenna, had to find and download a USB-to-serial adapter driver, that got things working, no such luck with this one though with anything I try.... -
Can you take a picture on Device manger under ports. I wanna see how many ports that display on it. Usually the GPS port is at com 3. I've just want to confirm your setting. It may only need to change the port that is not in use. Can you also confirm to me that the GPS show up on the bios.

Here ya go:

Ok! your good to go. The gps port setting is at com 3. Now! open MS streets and trips then click the "tools" above taskbar. then hit GPS, then Cofigure GPS receiver. It will display communication port. Choose com 3 then hit OK. Remember only one application at a time.
Also download GPS viewer, navigator or whatever you choose and then installed after installation configure to com 3. See if the data streaming.

Ohlip,
In the picture it looks like the antenna is touching the copper ring. Would this matter on the ground side?

Ohlip, thanks, but in S&T, GPS Configure, Com3 isn't shown....... (I've been using S&T 2011 a fair bit on my CF-29 with USB Antenna) so I'm baffled.
Sadlmkr, the strain relief on the antenna connector is actually raised, is sitting above the board. Copper ring is the ground plane anyways, and the outer part of that connector is ground as well, so doesn't matter if it did touch. -
"Conflict" Change com 3 to any other port that are not in use. Got to device manager, then to port, then to com 3. Then properties, at aove hit"port setting" then hit Advance. Below you see "COM port no., click the drop down arrow and look for a com port not in use. Remember the com port no. then hit Ok. Reboot the unit and change the setting of the com port to one you've choosen for MS s&t and your set.

Ok, now THAT worked, set it to Com 10, rebooted, took it outside and S&T connected to 10 satellites, also worked with u-Center. Thank you so much! Now I have to sort out Bluetooth PIN number for my Toughbook or my Blackberry, no idea where to find to set up or be given the PIN on either device.

Good to know you've figured it out. Enjoy!

Just in time too, was told today that I have to take a trip to Montreal (2hrs away) to a place I haven't been before to pick up aircraft panels that got sent out for testing last week.... so with my new CF-19, fresh copy of MS S&T, plus this GPS unit, will guide me there. Not like I'd be lost if this still didn't work, my first CF-29 has MS 2011 S&T in it, set up for USB antenna I have, but biggest bonus of the 19 is the monitor mounted speaker so it can bark at me when the next turn is coming up. CF-29 speaker volume gets muffled in the seat....
CF-19C/new Leadtek GPS issue...
