Hello !
I recently purchased a Toughbook CF-19 from an eBay reseller, and I installed successfully Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bits on it.
I did the Windows Updates and then focused on the drivers. I used the CF-18 Windows 7 guide for the correct order of installation.
I installed :
- INF Update [ from Intel's website ]
- Panasonic common components [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
- Touchpad driver [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
Step 4 with the panasonic misc driver is not working. I tried with the MK3 KL, then MK2 Vista, then MK1 CDE Vista, then MK1 CDE XP ( which installed )
- Hotkey driver [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
- Hotkey driver PLUS [ for the unrecognised device ]
- Hotkey appendix application [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
- Hotkey settings application [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
- Tablet buttons manager [ from Panasonic MK3 KL ]
There, I tried to install "Tablet buttons driver" from MK3 KL, and It did not work. I have the Misc driver error.
I stopped there for now.
In my devices manager, I have nothing unrecognised.
The digitizer works, pen & stylus but is not calibrated properly.
The FN shortcuts are working, but FN-F3 makes the screen shut and power back on ( no idea what it's for ), FN-F9 and FN-F10 were not tried because I dont know what they're used for ( battery and hdd signs ? )
The Hotkeys for Brightness up and Down are working but not any other.
All the other devices seems to work I guess.
Any help is welcome.

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum
It seems you left one thing out...you forgot to upgrade the BIOS for starters. You need to go here http://www.panasonic.com/business/Toughbook/computer-support-search-downloads.asp and click on Individual Drivers then select all drivers , CF-19, (C)MK1 and Vista upgrade and that will take you to the Windows Vista Upgrade Programs Update . This is needed for Windows 7 and you will find the drivers there too.
Just a little heads up but the CF-19C hates W7. It is very hard to get every thing working on it...I gave up and went back to XP Pro
Check out this search too https://www.google.com/search?btnG=...k1+w7+site:forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic -
Thanks ! I'll try the BIOS update when I get back home in a few hours.
I dont really need the other functions buttons, but I would like to be able to calibrate my screen properly. -

I tried to update the BIOS with Windows_Vista_Upgrade_Step-by-Step_Guide(CF-19mk1).pdf from Panasonic. Official Support Download Center of the Drivers, Manuals and FAQs | TOUGHBOOK | TOUGHPAD | Panasonic Global Notebook PC
- I unpacked the file successfully bios_19_1_r070055.
- I formated a Floppy 1.44md HD2 from Windows 7, and made it MS-DOS bootable
- I deleted the files starting by KEY and EGA
- I then copied the BIOS .exe file.
- I restarted and booted on it, and got an error, missing files or something.
EDIT : I dont see why I should update my BIOS since Windows 7 and every devices are already working, and I dont think the changes would have a huge influence.
I uninstalled the Misc driver, and in the Devices Manager, the unknown device root/newmisc has appeared.
Which Misc driver am I supposed to install for it ?
the MK3 KL is for MAT/0021 which is not present on my device. I think the CF-18 MK5 could work, but then I would not be able to install the calibration utiity.
Is there a way to install the calibrating software by another way ? -
Here is some linkage to read up on:
~Toughbook Talk~ Toughbook Discussion • View topic - Windows 7 on a CF-19MK1
From what I remember, if you want to install Windows 7, you will want to read, read, read all the posts on this site as well as the toughbook talk site, and it goes without saying, read the above posts once again...the order of install is very important and the correct bios must be used first and foremost...
Also, if you click on bottom left at Start> and type in "cali" in the search box, you should see a choice of:
"Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input"
This brings me to a Tablet PC settings and a box to click on for "Calibrate"
There will then run a calibration utility for the touchscreen.
Take care and Best Regards:hi2:Fitfit likes this. -

Hi !
Thanks for your help UNCNDL1 and toughasnails.
I updated my BIOS with the bios_19_1_r070207.exe.
I then installed the misc driver of the MK3 KL, in the Devices Manager, manually, for the unrecognised device MAT/0021. There were 4 unrecognised devices.
I installed the MK3 KL tablet buttons driver.
And now, everything seems to work, including the buttons which I can program with the Panasonic utility. I could not calibrate the screen with the Panasonic utility from MK3 KL, so I used the method described by UNCNDL1, and used the Windows 7 utility.
There is not auto-rotation. I'm not sure if there is one normally with this model but I dont really care
I'm not sure for the replicator port, or integrated modem, because I have no use for it now.
A big thanks the people who helped me out, and to the forum administrators and notebookreview.com !
And for the other owners of Toughbooks, dont loose faith, and good luck ! -
We're very glad to hear you have success...many times we post suggestions and people never get back to us. Cheers!
