I just picked up a new CF-19KHRAXAM and would like to add some options to it. Currently it has BT and WWAN (Sprint EVDO) installed. I am thinking of getting an emissive keyboard, a GPS unit and possibly a fingerprint reader. I know some of these should have factory kits. What are the part #s, where can one get them? I have also seen aftermarket GPS kits. Are they good/bad?

I am curious as to how a factory GPS unit would go into this one since it has BT and WWAN already.

I am new to modding the toughbook. Well I have swapped out keyboard and ripped them apart before but never added options so any help is good.

    Thanks

    Jason

All of the option that you had mentioned has its individual connector on the mbo. for expansion. So, you have no problem on the installation. just grab what hardware option that you want, installed it and your set. Assuming you know all the drill before going to perform any task on the unit.

I did pull the bottom cover off. Looks like the FP reader plugs right in to a connector at that location. The GPS concerns me a bit. I am not sure how the factory setup works for GPS/BT/WWAN but I did look at the custom-toughbooks.com GPS and it would go between the sound board and the BT/WWAN board. There is almost no room between which reallly concerns me.

Anyone know the part # for the FP reader, emissive keyboard and oem gps addon for the MK3 CF19 with the BT/WWAN already existing?

Also what is the deal with Heartland. I sent them an email inquiring about adding these options and haven't heard a peep from them.

    Thanks

    Jason

Teo is right, you can easily add all of these options...

I have about 3 of these CF-19 GPS's left and I'd be willing to do a MUCH better price for you since you are a forum member. Just PM me if you are interested: genuine/original/cf19 Toughbook CF-19 Mark 1&2 OEM GPS - eBay (item 190470194371 end time Apr-17-11 15:19:15 PDT)

As far as the emmisive keyboard is concerned, those damn things will set you back AT LEAST $230... I got one for my fiance's CF-19 and it's just GREAT! :)

As far as the FP reader is concerned, I don't have the PN off the top of my head, but Heartland will for sure have it... it should be around $150...

    Thanks

In addition you have no problem on mounting the hardware coz all of the option has its coresponding place inside the unit as long as you've got an OEM pansonic parts.

Will the GPS fit the MK3 with WWAN and BT? There is very little room between the sound board and the WWAN/BT board.

CF-WFP192R Should be the part number for the Finger Print reader Mk4
CF-WFP191R Should be the part number for earleir Mk's

The earlier Mk's I think are around $150...I think the newer Mk4 is closer to $250...dont know why or what is different...

CF-WGP192R - GPS retrofit...I dont see anything that specifically says with WWAN etc...

CF-WKB193VM - is listed as the part number for the keyboard...but only specifies Mk4...so I dont know if i will work with yours or not...can't find out for sure. I have a good contact normally I would be able to tell you for sure but shes on vacation.

I do have an email out to one other person to double check.

The backlit emissive keyboard will work on all CF-18's and CF-19's. It's probably only listed for the CF-19 Mk4 because that is the first model that offered the option.
