I have CF-19 with a corrupted admin password. it will not use my admin password. It allows me to create a password reset key...I created the original passowrod and still will not let me log on. I then recreate a new password and it still would not let me log on.

I then attempted to wipe the darn thing and use my CF-19 recovery CD. I went in the bios and selected usb CD rom as 1st boot option. i Saved the settings.I placed the recovery CD in the external usb CD rom drive and rebooted. It would not boot off the external CD rom drive. its acting like it does not even see it. I checked all the obvious; cable, usb ports, etc.any suggestions. ? :(

Try a different usb cd drive. Panasonic's are very finicky about which drives they boot from. My guess is that the bios only recognizes a very few number of optical drives. If you don't have one of those drives, it won't load until your OS loads drivers for it. I do my best to stick to Panasonic brand cd and dvd drives. I do the solder mod on all of them to force them to master.

If you have already tried both usb ports you can try inserting the dvd just before booting to make sure its still spun up while booting

As Shawn states it might be the usb optical drive
Both the cf-18 and cf-19 are problematic with usb drives
I have 4 separate drives and have gone through 3 non working before I was able to load on these

Sorry but we really do not speak of password defeats around here.

As to your CD Rom... It should boot first if set up that way in the BIOS. Perhaps try another CD Rom...

Is the external DVD Drive you are using a CF-VDRRT3?

Are you sure the Numlock or the Capslock key is not on ?

Its TEAC CDW552. the bios sees the device in its device listing. It just won't boot off of it. All your suggestions are leading me to think its the external USB CD ROM drive. I'll try to get my hands on a different one. Thanks

I assume you tried both USB ports.

I have had good luck with Samsung SE-S084 series drives on the CF-18, CF-19, CF-29 and CF-30.
