Hi
I am trying to get verizon on my toughbook CF-20. I haven't found alot of info on this model so I have kinda winged it.
The Sierra card I am using is this ( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2X17ZV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).
I know it says Lenovo and I am using a Panasonic, but this card is supposedly unlocked. See links below. I also read that it might have the wrong firmware. The wireless WAN ID is set to 13 (thirteen)
I've noticed that if I use the driver from Lenovo my MDN is 000-000-0000. If I use the Panasonic driver, I get N/A. I also get stuck at 37% on "Configuring mobile broadband device" It never finishes and if I reboot it started over.
Is this the right card for this machine? Is the WWAN setting in the bios correct? What changes do I need to get this working?

Would this card work? Finding a Panasonic card is very expensive--even on ebay.

I spent about a month fighting with that exact model card. I bricked 2 of them trying to flash and reset them so they might work in a Toughpad FZ Q1.
It did not work. I still have one of the ones I did not brick here somewhere.
You have to jump through some hoops to first get it to recognize the AT commands. Once you do that, you then need to change the PID and VID so it with work with the Panasonic or generic software. This step is where I bricked them. I could change one but not the other. Once one of the 2 is changed, NO software recognizes it.
Save yourself the headaches, buy the proper card... -
I would buy 4G WiFi router.

Just a final update in case anyone else runs into this. I did get it working by buying a genuine Panasonic card. I bought this. ( https://ruggeddepot.com/em7355/) As soon as I plugged in, it passed diagnostics. It connected immediately to Verizon and I was able to surf without issues.
I also tried a Dell card, but it would not pass diagnostics. Looks like Panasonic has these Toughbooks locked down to only play with their parts, which is lame. The price difference is pretty big between their part and others.
Hope this helps. Thank you for all the replies and feedback.toughasnails and Shawn like this. -
So what WLAN card are you using?
My 54MK2 has a 8260 with erratic behaviour....Of course I'm running Linux so it's all my fault.
It's like the card has a built in power save that makes it shut-down when it gets tired. Re-booting "cures" it.
I haven't had windows on this machine yet and would prefer not to load it just to diagnose the card. Stubborn.
CF-20 WWAN?
