I have a CF-25 that I'm looking to install operating system. Read few posts that some have used
Linux worked well. Any suggestion as to what version to use and is it hard locating the drivers.

Sorry I'm no Linux guy, but I have seen drivers for CF-25 running DOS + Win3.1 for Mk1 up thru Win95/98 for Mk4. I think it was on a site called Toughbook Drivers that's now defunct. If you can find an old Windows disc/floppies and key, you might get it running that way.

Maybe some of our Linux gurus will chime in soon . . .

What do you want to do with the CF-25? Might be ok for word and spreadsheet, but I wouldn't suggest connecting 25+ yo hardware to the internet.

I've see the CF-25 work connected to the internet although it wouldn't be used for everyday purposes

I still have my Mk2 CF-25. Swapped the hard drive out for a 4Gb compact flash and never got back to it.

last time I ran it, I ran DSL on it. Dam small Linux. The creators goal was to fit a complete OS with a full GUI with games, internet browser, etc into 50mb file site. With DSLN extensions you can add more to it. Run it live off the cd drive or install it to hard disk.

I'm surprised he's still updating that link. Over 10 years old but a lot of good info.

If you can upgrade the ram to the max 80 then you can run puppy linux for sure, the older versions though, 2.14
i did something similar with my toshiba p266 with 160 ram
Used a ide to msata drive. now it has 128gb instead of its original 4
I have a made a puppy bionic with drivers for older machines, uses 90 ram though.
