I ran into this the last time I built one of these and never found a solution.

    CF-25 MK3
    Windows 98SE

I have installed no drivers as 98 found everything.

I do have one problem in the device manager though.

It's under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and says:

"Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller".

If I go into the properties on it the status says:

This device is disabled because the BIOS for the device did not give it an IRQ. (Code 29)

You must enable the device in the BIOS. blah blah...

Ideas? I get this same error trying to install a PCMCIA ethernet card :(

Try installing the chipset drivers from Intel.

As far as I know there is no way USB is gonna work in a CF-25, cause all USB adapters are 32bits. The CF-25 pcmcia needs 16bits, 5volt cards to operate without issues....

If I remember correctly, the 25's were very picky on the types of PCMCIA cards you could use. The same problem was found trying to use just any card in the HP Jornadas. You will probably have to use one of the older cards (if you can find one) so it will accept it. This applies to both wired and wireless cards.

The CF-25 MKII has 32 bit cardbus slots so I would assume the MKIII does as well. I don't think either has built in USB so do you actually have a PCMCIA card installed? If so have you tried it on the other slots?

No, there's no USB in this laptop. Whatever that hardware is that is giving me a problem is built inside the laptop. I have no PCMCIA cards in the unit right now for this problem.

Again I go digging up dead CF-25 threads, but this is interesting and I'm curious to get to the bottom of it as well.

My 2 units (Mk3 CF-25s) are the same way.

I'm assuming the USB controller is a built-in feature of the chipset and Panasonic couldn't feasibly integrate ports in the design (or cheaped out, or whatever) so they just had the BIOS written such that it prevents the USB controller from stealing resources. Also remember that in 1997 USB was still quite new and probably seen as an unnecessary option.
