Hello,
I am new to the site and I just wanted to share my experience instaling DSL Linux on my CF-27 using a boot floppy and a usb drive. My computer came with the floppy drive and at this time I cannot afford to purchase a cd/dvd drive for my unit. I googled "floppy usb install" and got a lot of info about building boot disks, but the easist was from DSL Linux. I down loaded the image and burned it to a floppy using "rawwritewin". I then put the DSL Linux image on a 2 gig usb pendrive using "UNetbootin-win". I then put the usb pen in the usb port the floppy in the floppy drive and started the computer. At the command prompt I typed "dsl fromusb" and after 1.5 minutes DSL Linux was running. I then installed it onto the harddrive and here we are. The hard drive was a dead drive that I had lying around and was able to resserruct it using another floppy based program, but that is another story.
BTW Great forum, I have learned much!!!

Good stuff. Hopefully you can come up with creative uses for it. I am hoping to run some sort of GPS program on it. I have heard good things about VikingGPS for linux...
I got lucky with my CF-27 (my first Toughbook) as it came with a CD-ROM drive. Now I have the CF-27, CF-M34, and two CF-29's... it won't be long until you get more. -
Welcome to the Forum, and congratulations on your install success! That is great to hear!
