Hello,
My first post, but first off what a great site for toughbook info, excellent. Have been lurking a while.
I've just got hold of a CF-27 and I'm wondering if the RAM could be improved above the 192MB. I've seen someone on ebay selling one and mentioning it having 320MB RAM in the specs but this reads as above the max for a Mk3.
So, my question is what's the max spec for a MK3 cf-27? And if above 192MB any pointers as to any sellers (I'm in the UK).
Thanks.

It sounds like you have 64mb of non-removable ram and 128mb of add-on ram. I have no experience with the MkIII but you should be able to replace the 128mb removable ram with a 256mb stick of ram. Now what I don't know is if the motherboard can see and utilize the extra 128mb of ram.

I have a CF-27 MK-3. I attempted to replace the 128MB stick with a 256MB one and was unsuccessful as the BIOS ignored any additional memory on the 256MB stick beyond the 192MB limit.

Thanks for the helpful replies, looks like 192 is going to be the limit then.
For what I'm intending to do the CF-27 will work fine (got it cheap and in great condition too). I know CF-27's are getting quite old but to my mind their styling is still pretty neat.
Thanks again. -

The mkIII will take a 256mb add on chip you just need to make sure you get pc100 ram. I found that the 256MB with 16chips works fine. It is the same ram used on the CF-M34 PIII700 models.

I have a 256mb pc100 module I pulled from a CF 48. I will email you.
