I have recently gotten a CF-27 that I plan on using for gps mapping software use. I plan on only using it for that purpose, no net, word processing or anything. The problem Im having is that the touchpad doesnt work or does the touch screen. Im not overly concerned with the touch sceen as I havent tried to work with it much so I think I can get it to work but I do need the touch pad to work. The buttons work and I can plug in a ext mouse and it works fine when I disable touch pad in bios. Any ideas?

Next I beleive that the usb port is the old 1.0 and Im not sure that the gps antenna I have will work. Any help on this appreciated too.

    Model #CF-27EB6GCAM98BKB

I have xp with service pack one installed at this time.

    Thanks in advance.

As far as the touchpad, your guess is as good as mine (actually, your guess is probably better than mine :)

Don't worry about the GPS antenaa and USB 1.0. Most gps units output a data stream to the com port (for usb, it creates a virtual com port).
It's just text, and at a rate of MAYBE 5 lines per second (this is just a loose estimate to give you an idea of what your dealing with). That would be a ~100Kb/sec, and usb 1 can handle 12Mbits/sec (that's 1.5gb per second)

Someone jump in and correct me, if I'm mistaken, please.

Thanks interestingfellow, I think maybe the touchpad is bad but I hope not as I just sold one. Im going to take it apart if no one has any ideas to make sure all cables plugged in ect.

+1 for the CF-27 for GPS use. It will handle mapping software a lot more complicated than what you are going to be using. Check the touchpad driver, here is the one for your MK2:

Unless you need XP for your software your CF-27 will be happier running Win2K

OOH, I better make my next post a goodie, it will be 2000

Thanks cap Ill try that driver. I had XP disc but not a 2000, if I could get 2000 I'd run it.

***update*** Driver didnt work either, that was the same one I had. I dont know what the issue is. The buttons work but the touch pad is a no go. I guess Ill have to tear it down to check cables, etc
