    Hello.

This forum has been very useful in helping me upgrade a CF-27 (model number CF-27RJZ8V22)

I have been told its TOUCH SCREEN - however, I have no idea how to find out if this is true. (The BIOS doesn't mention anything about touch screen)... but the guy who owned it previously messed about with it and may have changed the screen or WHATEVER.. anyway... he said its touch screen)

I AM NOT A TECHIE - JUST A GIRL - SO IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE TRY AND PUT IT IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE! :)

It now has the following spec:

Windows XP Professional (upgraded from W98)
    Bios Version: V1.0L20 (not changed)
    128Mb RAM (from 64mB)
    80Gb Hard Drive (From 6gb)
    Pentium I
    CD/DVD drive

I HAVE TRIED the CONFIG facility on Panasonic's website, but it doesn't list my model number.

DO YOU KNOW IF THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAME WITH TOUCH SCREEN?

HOW DO I UPGRADE THE BIOS, WITHOUT A BOOT DISK? (I have a BIOS upgrade program thingy, that I downloaded from the panasonic.ca site)

Ok,, first download all the drivers for your laptop and install them.
In the sticky on the first page, for the CF-28 F.A.Q. read the section on installing the touchscreen driver,, it is the same for both models.
Follow these EXACTLY even though it is for the mouse driver, it installs the touchscreen divers at the same time.
Confusing as it is, this is what works, you install the mouse-touchpad driver to fix the touchscreen.

Let us know how well this works for you

I will have to find the service manual for the 27 and see if it has the part number breakdown. The earlier 27s don't make it real obvious if the touchscreen is present or not!

    Thanks guys.

Thing is - by virtue of being FEMALE - I did that thing that blokes NEVER do - and that is READ the instructions (including the sticky on the CF-28) BEFORE I asked the question.

I don't have the fidmou.inf (mouse pad) file in my drivers folder. OR ANYWHERE - even on the disk I bought with all the drivers on!!!

    Nope. Not anywhere.

I'm not certain that you've got a touchscreen, but my 27 experience is limited. The only time I've ever touched one was when I was stripping Gravitar's 27's for keyboards.

However, this should be the driver for a touchscreen if yours has one. I know it says 28 in the file name, but it works on some 27's.

You could always try upgrading to a CF-28 though, which is more upgradeable, and they are pretty cheap right now.
