Okay, I'm just trying to triple check that I am doing the installation correctly before I make a faulty hardware call on my CF-27s. I have two units...EBs...I've been wrestling with these touchscreens for days now. All the posts on "how do I get my touchscreen to work!!" point to the CF-28 FAQ which I followed but the CF-27 is slightly different so I'm hoping someone can clarify.
The CF-27 EB has a touchscreen download which when you run it, it installs the UPDD or Universal Pointer Device Driver. This folder does not contain the FIDMOU.inf file that is needed to do the manual driver install but this file can be found in the extracted folder for the mouse]. I would assume that this is the file being referred to but when you manually install it, it installs just as a touchpad. If you install FIDMOU.inf on a CF-28, it installs as a touchpad/touchscreen(correct me if I'm wrong).
So, my question is...is there a correct order to install the UPDD and update the mouse to FIDMOU.inf? What FIDMOU.inf do I need?
I've tried just the UPDD, just the FIDMOU.inf and then with both installed with no success...they install but the screen will not accept any input to calibrate. Oh, and I'm using Windows 2000.
I appreciate any help...thanks!

Where are all the 27 experts?
-
The 27 you have is not like the CF-28 on the CF-27EB the touchscreen is serial and uses the UPDD driver. The touchpad is PS2 and if installed correctly you will only see "touchpad" in device manager. The CF-28 uses a common driver for both the touchpad and touchscreen.
-
Okay, that makes sense...so once the UPDD is installed I should have a functioning touchscreen...in theory...correct?
I'm getting comms errors, overflows, and sync errors in the device status tab...does anyone know how to correct this or what is going on? -
try setting the comms speeds down... I can't remember if it's 4800 or 9600 baud N,8,1 ... I vaguely remember that from one of Gravitar's posts.

dort! -
Right now it is set to 9600, N, 8, 1 but all these boxes are greyed out and I can't adjust em. Here is what it looks like....
-
Uncheck autodetect and set it to com2 but first make sure that in the BIOS you have com2 enabled for the touchscreen.
-
T2G is right, uncheck autodetect, and in the BIOS screen, check Adress and IRQ for touchscreen (probably can be set manualy if touchscreen is "Enable"" instead of "Auto") use these settings in the UPPD, and you have a functional touchscreen. Enjoy !
-
Now I remember that guys... but does he have to set it to 4800 N,8,1 , or will it work at 9600 N,8,1 ?

I suffer from CRS... who the heck are you? -
Hmmm, well, the touchscreen is enabled in BIOS and I set the UPDD to COM2 but it still doesn't receive any input. I also still get the comms errors, overflows, and sync errors in the device status tab.
I noticed in Device Manager that I have no COM2 under ports...only COM1 and COM4. Is it assigned differently in Device Manager or should it be there?
Now when I set the UPDD to COM1, I still can't get the touchscreen to receive input but I stop getting errors in the device status tab. Now it looks like this....
-
Sounds like you are almost there. If Com2 is not showing in Device Manager, I believe it is because your BIOS is not set correctly. Can you post a screen shot of the BIOS page for this so we can take a look?

the BIOS screen
-
I would set to "AUTO" in the BIOS and try for COM4.....
-
Base on the photo. here is what you gonna do manually. Install again the updd. During installation there is a part that will ask you for auto setting or custom, choose custom and then input the IRQ setting on the box from top to buttom base on the bios which is 2F8/IRQ3 and then finnish the installation and reboot. Then calibrate and you set.

Ohlip, exactly what I's trying to explain in my post 6 days ago...
-
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all your help! I appreciate it because this is turning out to be quite a challenge....I don't remember it being this difficult....
Here is where I'm at...which isn't much farther than when I started...just with more information....
Okay, I did this...
On the bottom of the photo is the "status" screen. When I select my custom setting, COM2 or auto this is what I see. They all have the status of device not started with errors.
BUT like I said in a previous post, when I select COM1, the status shows the device timed out with 0 errors....
I think I'll try reinstalling the UPDD again and this time set it to COM4 just to see what happens. -
HAHA! Success! I reinstalled the UPDD and set it to COM4 during installation. It worked perfectly!
The funny thing is that when I installed it the first time and left it on "auto" I had no option to change it to COM4 after the UPDD was installed.
It must be that my COM ports were assigned incorrectly(at least to the UPDD) and COM4 is really COM2...well regardless, it works now!
Thank you everyone for your help!! -
I had that "COM4 feeling"....
-
Thank you for sharing your feelings

Com4nicatin' lil' electronic summitch... heh.

I was gonna loan him my clock mallet... -
touchscreen installation. Tried all the above options, still no luck.
I have noticed, that in my BIOS I cannot select the touchscreen; I only
get port replicator or MP Device on port B. Does that mean, that my
cf27 does not support the touchscreen. my serial nr. is cf27ej6kree.
Grateful for any advice. -

Yup, mine has CF-27EJ6KREE under the battery. It doesn't have TS either
