    Hi,
    I have a 300MHz CF-27 with 128MB RAM onboard.
I just installed a low density, PC133 256MB stick. The PC now "sees" 256MB.
I guess the PC sees the onboard 128MB + one half of the 256MB stick, for a total of 256MB. Am I right so far? If postive, could it be a problem of latency of memory cells (refresh cycle too slow and bits dropped in memory cells) as the eBay guide asserts?
Would a PC100 stick work instead? Thanks!

You are correct on whats happening , it see's one side only
I don't think there will be any issues as I have run them that way in the past
    Memtest 86, to be sure

The cf27 and 28s are fussy on the type of ram but with the right module the unit will see 384 total with an addon 256

Others here can coment on type needed as its been years since I had to deal with a cf-27, but pc100 comes to mind when I think back

pc100 may solve your problem. I was working with several HP Omnibook XE2 and those were factory maxed at 256mb ram. But if I used pc100 and 16 chip modules, I could get 512mb to work reliably. It had to be pc100 and 16 chip.
Pc133 and/or 8 chip modules would not work. I know it wasn't a Toughbook but I hope the info helps.
