My model I own seems to have wireless something... which I presume for modem. But however the antenna is missing so is it usable at all? I can't find drivers. Also I noticed there is "GSM" serial number so what does that mean? Also there's a place to put sim card?

Some of our European friends have mentioned that modem in the past. I think one of them actually had his working, albeit very slowly. I wouldn't hold out much hope for it to be of much use, but one of the guys will probably chime in with more information. I don't believe that option was available in the US.

That is for the CDMA modem, basically turns your laptop into a cell phone, and is used in conjunction with the pull-out antenna. aka GSM modem. Mnem will chime in soon but I believe CDMA is no longer in use.
Hope this helps... -
Yeah... That was back in the $1.99 per minute days... I doubt there is a provider anywhere on the planet for that any more... Upgrade and hack and Ye Shall Receive.... A signal.

I also forgot to mention there's BELGACOM plate inserted to cover Toughbook text.

Actually, it's probably going to be CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data), not CDMA. CDMA is at LEAST digital service, even if it is slower than moles' @sses in January...
CDPD was discontinued in Feb of 2008, as was the analog cellular that supported it. This is why we were barraged with Off-Corporate-Lease CF-28s 1st quarter 2008, and a similar discontinuation of service is ALSO probably the reason for all those screwed-up Aussie CF-18s we've been trying to un-screw.

I'm OK, you're legacy. -
