I apologize if this has been covered previously, but my search for this returned few results.
I have a CF-28PRJ22DM with a fresh copy of XP Pro on it. However, when it starts, the screen is off center by about 3-4 inches on the top, and 3-4 inches on the right. Even the boot screen (BIOS and all) is off center. When logging into XP as a user, everything is proportionate, however the right and bottom edges of the desktop are beyond the physical edge of the screen. I have tried updating the drivers, changing different resolutions, I removed the touchscreen drivers (and re-installed them and many versions), everything I could possibly think of. Here is what is currently set up:
- BIOS: 2.00L13
- DISPLAY ADAPTER: Intel Extreme Graphics Controller-0 v6.13.1.3162
- RESOLUTION: 1280x1024
- TOUCHPAD/SCREEN: Fujitsu Takamisawa Component Limited v2.0.3.3
Any ideas as to what is causing this even for the boot screen?

Un-plug re-plug connectors possibly?
Resolution....1024x768 or there-abouts seems better.
It's like the dimensions are too big for the monitor so it off-sets the display.
G'luck.
Jeff...just a guess...I'll go check my CF-28 and edit if appropriate. -
By changing to 1280x1024 my desktop expanded. Down and right eventually found the toolbar. As far as the bios pages they remained the same as usual but I think in a different font. Nope wait a minute...the 1024x768 yields a smaller bios page centered. I'm going to hit defaults again here and see what happens. 1024x768 I get smaller better quality bios page.
FWIW Display Adapter in system manager says Silicon Motion LynxEM.
Hmmpphhh!
Driver details yields system32\DRIVERS\smiminib.sys and smidispb.dll
CF-28MCFGADM
Bios version V1.00L13

Jeff -
Yea, I tried all the resolutions available (800x600, and so on...). Not much difference on the 1024x768 than the 1280x1024 other than on the latter, I can scroll the desktop a bit - but - I still cannot see the clock end of the task bar.
I unplugged and reconnected the cable, nothing.
I tried the display driver you show for yours and got the BSOD.
GGRRR this is annoying lol -
My wild guess on this; is somebody tampered the screen prolly replaced by not a compatible one or the harness pin out was messed up.
ohlip -
Tomorrow I will tear it down and check again. No way to tell if that is the screen that is supposed to be on there?

Just an update, didnt get a chance to diddle with the laptop today. I am pulling a double shift, so I wont get to it until Wed. Sorry

i seem to remember us running into this before back we the site was first started and i think Teo is right. seems to me if there were two different size screens for the 28; a 12" and a 13" i believe. Don't exactly remember. but if you put the 12" on the 13" machine, this is what would happen. At least as far as I remember. Possibly Toughbook or Mnem will remember better than I.

I think I found the thread. Try reading this and see if that helps you out at all...

Ok, sorry for the delay in response - was called away on orders. While I was gone, it was sold unbeknownst to me and I no longer have it. However, shortly before I was deployed, I found that there was a hardware failure - which eventually stopped working totally.
Thank you all for the help and input!
