What did the factory use for WiFi antennas for the factory card?

I have seen two types
The normal pull out type mounted in the lid that was interfaced to the hidden pcmcia cisco card though a docking station connector
A rare bump-out antenna mounted on the front side of the palmrest
There have been ebay sellers with those items at quite high prices ,over $100 +

Mine has the dual antenna system, the aforementioned pull out type and a secondary antenna mounted next to the LAN connection. Great reception.

Yes slower, but farther. The b encoding penetrates better than g according to the folks at Data Alliance. No doubt 54Mbps g is several times faster than 11Mbps b, but even half that is faster than most Internet connections. Plenty fast for web surfing even though it's older technology.
And Mnem will be coming along momentarily to extoll the weaknesses of WEP security .... -
Thats how toughbook designer views not for gaming or somekind but they always consider "reliability".
