    Cheers to all,
I have a few CF-28 toughbooks and am wondering if anyone has changed the lid so that the touch screen is up and exposed when the lid is closed. It' would be a kind of poor boy CF-18/19. I'd just use the touchscreen.
You guys are the best. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent wading through the wealth of information that you've put here for the rest of us.
    Thanks

The hinges and the magnetic switch do not work that way on the CF-28..... Not to say you couldn't MAKE it do it... So keep us posted!

Huh......I did that to an old Dell PII 300...no touchscreen, but it was purpose built. I used it as a 13.3" LCD picture frame, complete with speakers, wireless card and 20GB worth of pix! I did have to turn it on and off manually, but no problem, I hacked the motherboard to make an push button switch on the outside.

Well yeah.... I can turn my CF-30 into a billboard... But to be able to flip around a CF-28 touchscreen will take some work....

The member you are referring to had mounted his toughbook on the roof of his vehicle and wanted to know how to flip the image on the screen so that he could read it.

I remember seeing the post on it a year ago as well
I don't think it will sit flat like the tablet does

It might be possible with some serious modding but the cables will be on the wrong side and the amount of effort in my mind is not worth it

My thought was to reverse the screen on the hinges and still have the ability to open and access the keyboard. The power switch won't be a problem. The end use for this would be on top of my motorcycle tank bag. I'd use the Garmin USB GPS that's sell for $45 on Ebay, and have one big gps unit.
    Thanks for your help

I don't think that the cables will be an issue. They are long enough to be placed on the opposite side and will easily reach their plugs. There will need to be spacers placed under the hinge to base connection. Otherwise the screen back will hit the keyboard. Next week I'll make up the needed spacers (about 3mm) and give this a try.
The Toughbook will be in a portrait orientation, so I can use "Irotate".
    Thanks
