    Hello all!

After original HDD took the big crap, and I replaced it, I find that the HDD light stays on all the time while the computer is on. Yeah, it blinks and flickers when there's activity, but even when not, it's on. What am I missing?

    THanks!

    It's XP Pro SP3
I think there's a chipset driver or something missing. It's not that there's disk activity, the light is just on. It does blink during activity as well.

I've got the same problem. I had a failing & slow 20Gb HD & did a Ghost image of it. I fitted a new faster 40Gb HD and put the Ghost image on it.

Now when the CF-28 boots the Media Bay LED is constantly lit & the HD LED is dimly lit & flickers when there is any HD activity. The laptop seems to function correctly apart from this symptom.

I did remove the new HD from the caddy & re-install it again just in case I had done something stupid, but I could find nothing wrong with how I'd installed it.

Plenty of head scratching & searching the forum didn't come up with a solution so I've resigned myself to living with it (unless some forum Guru can advise otherwise).

PS I am also running M$ XP SP3 (fully updated).

If you have you have XP Pro SP3... Then with the current updates you are likely to see the HD light on pretty much all the time on the CF-28. You can check Task Manager to see what is running at the time... But I think this is just one of the things you will have on XP & the CF-28.
