    Firstly, hi

I get cf-28 with internal gps (on extension board, Panasonic, ref.no cn-gx0100A), following topics I finally see gps at any windows start (windows xp tablet edition), GPSinfo notice it, but when i open GPS, I recive strange data, gps don't fix, no satellites.

First time, when I get gps working, I saw some sat's and even get location, but now I can't get it work correctly.

No changes when I plug in, plug out antenna, the same strange data:

    $GPGGA,,,,,0,00,,,,,*66
    $GPZDA,,,,,,*48
    $GPVTG,,,,,,,A*3F
    $GPGSA,A,1,,,,,,,,,,,*79
    $GPRMC,,V,,,,,,,,,,,, A*5C
refresh interval - 1 sec., data don't change at any refresh

So.. I'd like to ask :
    1. If there's a known bug with win xp tab edition
    2. What I'm doing wrong
    3. If I trashed my gps ?
    4. And if so, does anyone wanna buy ext. board :)

My CF-29 OEM GPS did the same thing to me when I first got it a few days ago.
I had to set the unit outside in clear view of the sky for it to aquire the satellites.
After an hour or two, Then all was well... I do however notice that it does take a while to aquire sats from a cold start, or after being turned off..
Much slower than my 28 with the EM-408 engine.
I am thinking it must not have battery back-up or the bat is dead.
It is possible you are experiencing what I am.

Looking at seeing if that's the issue with my factory GPS engine too - I was curious to know what that thing inside the yellow plastic heatshrink was. Seeing as this is meant to be an 'industrial' grade GPS device, I wonder if there is a pre-built module around somewhere that can take a simple +5 volt input and charge a battery for the GPS engine to use when the machine runs off AC power...

Also make sure that the com port is set to 4800 bps since that's the data rate which the factory GPS engine uses. It is most likely going to use 'com4' but be careful that Windows doesn't enable the Microsoft serial ballpoint mouse driver and interpret the GPS data stream as mouse pointer control data. This is well documented in the CF28 GPS FAQ's.

    Thanks Craig,
I already had small battle with serial ballpoint, and aditional param. to windows booting didn't heped - so I set GPS to be com7. Strange thing is, that when I scan com port's, applicaton tshows that "something" is at 4 port, but it cant derermine what it is, but com 7 - gps detects at once.

I've already mounted on plastic cover (with ethernet and modem sockets) 2 rp-sma, one for external wifi, one for external gps antena, because iternal wifi as well as internal gps is... those antennas has no efficiency at all, small 3dBm "cat-tail" on rpsma allows to fix a connection with network that didn't was seen on internal ant. at all.
I'm waiting for ordered ext. gps antenna, when it get it workin, I'll share results.
