    Greetings all,
I'm in need of a working lock tumbler and key from an MKI. If you're willing to sell one (in exchange for a blank or a tumbler with no matching key), please email me at
    paul AT sanjuro DOT org

    Thanks
    -Paul

You might wanna post this in the buy sell and trade forum.

These are very hard to find and seem to cost a fortune. But good luck

Can the tumbler and key be replaced with something more common?

    Morlock,
You understand that they don't really lock anything except the battery cover, sort of? That said, I seem to remember that Modly had one and that the Dragon allowed as they were very fancy keys for what they did.

It does also lock the power switch so it can't be turned on but it is only a slight deterrrent. But in conjunction with a locking port replicator in your car that would really lock everything down nicely.

If I was a criminal and I knew what toughbooks were worth (which I wouldn't because criminals are effing stupid as hell most of the time), but assuming i was smart, and I was confident that I could do it without getting caught. I'd take a freaking bolt cutter to whatever I can to steal the thing :D

Most car thieves are opportunistic thieves, that is, they quickly grab whatever they can. However, nothing will stop a determined crook who knows what they want.

Most police laptop mounts have a quick release base, yet they still have a lock up top. Never figured that out.

(I would never encourage this, but just so you get an idea...)
If you wanted a police mount/laptop from a police car, You could disconnect 4-5 things from the docking station, pull the quick release pin, grab the whole thing, and go. The locks on both the mounts and the laptop are easily bypassed with tools that most people have at home.
