Hello gents.
First off I would like to say a BIG thank you to all those who have contributed to this forum which has so far been my main source of info on my new works laptop.
I bought this used from a chap I know who has had it from new. It's a P3 800 model with touchscreen but no wi-fi, and so using your posts I am thinking of the following items to remedy this.
ATHEROS AR5006XS mini PCi wifi card
Stubby aerial (external)
aerial lead
I also need to replace the keyboard as 2 keys do not work which I only found when I came to input the CD Key upon reinstallI have ordered a keyboard from Ebay UK for only £17.50 which I thought was cheap and I have already read through your guide to replacement.
Keep up all the good work, and please let me know if the items I have listed are going to be OK as the choice of wifi cards seem to be vast and confusing.

Richard,
Welcome to the forum! Yes... There are a lot of super smart people here. (Smart Alecs too!) You should be fine with what you bought. Two words of wisdom....
Careful & Plan....
Be careful when you swap keyboards. The main keyboard ribbon cable connector is one of the few weak spots of the CF-28 Toughbook.
Plan on what you MAY want to as far as future upgrades. If you don't think about that now... You may find your Toughbook with things you add that you really can't take out.
Personally... I wouldn't add the external wifi antenna any more unless you need it for a long-range cantenna type setup. The old RIM antenna (if you have one) make a great wifi antenna... But if you want to add GPS... That is also the best spot for the GPS antenna.
Take your time and read, read, read... There is a lot of great info here. The CF-28 800MHz is one of the hardiest laptop ever made... You'll love it! -
I'm not bothered about adding GPS and I don't have the rim antenna anyway, so I will stick with my origional plan as my work station/toolbox is quite a distance from the firms wi-fi router and so I need all the signal I can get
