I have a CF-28 and have tried to load Windows XP on it. It went through the initial set up but when it had to restart if never loaded windows. I got this off of ebay with no hard drive and have put in a good 40 GB that I had. It boots to bios no problem. I have now loaded windows on another laptop onto a good 30 GB hard drive with the Panasonic drivers I have and it still doesnt pull up windowsl. I am at wits end. This CF-28 doesnt have a battery in it, does it need one to run? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, oh yeah newbie here and I hope to learn a lot and get to use this laptop.

Oh yeah forgot it is a MKII CF-28P 800 processor 256 ram

When you have the drive installed on your 28, does it spin up?

Yes the hard drive is spinning. I was just now able to check and I can hear it running. After the Panasonic screen comes on I dont have any type of windows screen it just goes to a black screen with a cursor blinking. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

    Battery is not required.

Suspect a bad ribbon cable. Examine the ribbon cable to the HDD with a magnifying glass. Look for any cracks in the traces.
