Is your CF-28 popping open when you pick it up by the handle? Is it irritating the &%#! out of you? It is a VERY easy fix! What happens over time is that the hinges loosen and he LCD shifts just enough to keep the latch from properly catching! The easy fix is to remove your hinge cover, take the screws out one at a time and put BLUE locktite on them. Screw them back down but don't tighten them all he way down yet. Just snug them a little. Look at the front. Pull the handle out enough for you to see the hinge meeting with the body of the laptop. Align the LCD and the main body and then partially tighten the screws. Check the latch. Does it catch now? If not, slightly move the LCD over one way or the other slightly. Try the latch again. Try to pick up the edges of the LCD and see if the latch catches properly.
The SLIGHTEST misalignment will cause your latch not to catch properly. They may look "close enough" but they must be exact for the latch to properly lock down the LCD.
When you have the latch properly catching and halding the LCD down... Put pressure down on the LCD and tighten two of the screws and try the latch again. If it works, tighten the other two. If not... Repeat the process.
Now... Fix that latch!

Wouldn't it be better to align the lid as you said, then remove one screw from each hinge & put Locktite on 'em, then tighten them, then do the same for the other two screws? That way you won't be trying to beat the clock before your Locktite sets up...

That is kind of what I meant. But if you use the BLUE locktite, which you probably shoudl for this job, you'll have plenty of time. It only takes 45 seconds to do the whole thing once you get the hinge cover off. BUT... You have to have all the screws loose enought to move the LCD.
