Used Unetbootin to download and create a Live USB, Then PloP 4.0.1 to start the process I was successful in installing Xubuntu 10.04 (lucid) kernel Linux 2.6.32-28-generic via live USB.
This unit runs the Intel 830M Chipset.
Just now I found a little problem with the [Fn][F4] and above keys. The cursed cursor disappears.
I'll be back.
Meanwhile film at eleven.

There is a mouse on the screen
Those rascals eat anything, probably ate the cursor -
If we could somewhere find a tomcat to deal with that mouse. Where o where can we find a tomcat?

Yuk yuk yuk.
I was feeling so pleased with this install and then this comes about. Any ideas. One thing is it's easy to get out of. CTRL ALT DEL once or twice and restart but what the heck is causing it?
One source said do sudo modprobe pcc_acpi. Not!
The way the rodent is traveling I would say the old TC is just off the screen to the left. -
Grabs gasoline to throw on fire.
Bad touchscreen?? -
Bad touchscreen on a cf-28 is quite rare

That doesn't stop me from trying to stir the pot a bit. By Gork's previous post's I think he has replaced the Touchscreen in every CF 29 he owns.
I actually am lucky I can spell Ubuntu let alone know any of the inner workings.
Xubuntu PloP Unetbootin sounds Klingon to me. Set phaser to stun and look out for Romulan virus's on the laptop. -
Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Timbaktu... all geeky Greek to me but a very long while back, I had one of the distros on a 28P, I think, the 600MHz old clunker in the storeroom somewhere...

Glad if finally worked out for you Gork. I am working on 10.10 on a cf-t5 now and mandriva on cf-29 and cf-t5, let you know how that goes.

The CF-28 shows no TS in bios. Guess I better fix it. The owner said it never had one but what does he know.
CF-28 Xubuntu PloP Unetbootin Success
