I have had my toughbook for about 1 year now. It has never had sound. I have tried re-installing the sound drivers, but there still is no sound. Do I need a motherboard? I'm running XP.
Thanks

sss430,
Look in device manager, what's listed for audio devices?

Tried plugging in headphones? Mayhaps toasted/unplugged speakers...

Maybe your cable is disconnected to the motherboard. It is most likely when you split the case recently and forgot to plug it on again. It happened you know!

That sounds like a problem I had with one of my CF27s. Perhaps something shorted out? If all else fails, plug in a USB audio module. It's a stoopid idea.... but it works. BTW, it took you a year to figure out a mute 28??
