Hi friends, could you help a brazilian noob friend?
I just bought a CF-28, 800 Mhz, 256 MB Ram.
Today i tested a 256 Mb, SoDimm, PC100, 144 pin, with 8 chips, and the lap top didn't recognize that...
The salesman told me that only memories with 16 chips are compatibles of the CF-28.
The question is: Is it true?
The second question is: What kind of memory i could buy to this lap top?
And the last question is: My cf-28 configuration recognize 512 Mb's memories too?
Thanks everybody for the help!

Ive tried about 4 or 5 different chips without success. Everyone seems to be having good luck with this Kingston 512 chip: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E1682013416

You want the kind of RAM that has 4 chips on each side for the CF-28. Whoever told you eight doesn't know what he is talking about.
If you have the latest BIOS revision your 800Mhz & 1Ghz CF-28 should be able to go all the way up to 768 MB RAM. (256 on board and a stick of 512) the 600 series can't go up this far. -
kusa, did your link drop a '6'?
Is this the ram?

Thanks for the help friends.
I bought this memory: http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-68911529-_JM
And it´s works perfectly!!!!

And another question, does "WIRELESS MINI-PCI Qcom Q802MKG" compatible with CF-28?

Uh, I do believe 8 is correct. That is, 8 chips on either side for a total of 16. This is what I just purchased yesterday, and it worked like a charm.
Sorry to correct you there big guy, but, YOUR WRONG!!! hehehehe -
I have a 512 stick with Centon on the sticker that has 8 chips on both sides and it works like a charm. Maybe number of chips isn't the issue but rather the density of the chips themselves. I have a ton of sticks with 4 chips on each side that don't work and are gonna find their way back to ebay. There's something missing and it ain't the number of chips.

There's a place on Ebay selling a stack of Kingston 512 MB SODIMM's which I think will work in CF28's of the mk-2 and 3 variety. They're used modules, and the seller has the listing set up to accept offers but doesn't seem to want to accept offers less than the B.I.N price of US$29.95 each. Note they're used modules though.
One of the listings for the place is here.
I read somewhere that Kingston KTM-TP133/512's work in 800 and 1000 MHz CF28's. Might buy a new stick of that and try it out in my 800 Mhz system. Don't like used RAM much for a system which needs to be reliable in the field.
I see a few variants of these 144 pin PC133 SODIMM's... Can KTT-SO133/512 be used?

Yea, I own a MK3 Toughbook (PIII 1.0GHz) and owned a MK2 (PIII 800MHz) When I aquired the MK3, I swapped the memory out from the M2 that I purchased Prior. It is a 512MB Kingston stick that worked in both the MK2 and MK3. The Memory Stick is #KTM-TP133/512 and it works perfectly for my application. This memory also has 8 Chips on both sides (For a total of 16)
You can see it here from where I purchased it on eBay:

Works for me, should for you too
Oh, and as far as the Kingston KTT-SO133/512 memory chip being used, you've got me stumped. Both the KTT and the KTM have pretty identical specs: PC133, non-parity, CL3, 3.3V, Un-Buffered, Non-ECC. The only thing I can think of is maybe the KTM is low profile and the KTT is normal sized (?) suppose the only way to know for sure is a test!
