Opening up the cf-28stjg8km I've found an unplugged connector labeled cn62..
so i looked at the cf-28techmanual.pdf (but this manual is related to cf28 mkII)

there's a cn14 connector in the same place of cn62..
I have googled without results...only references to some "CN62. 8-pin Alarm Board" in other notebooks.

    What's the purpose of cn62?

You wiring diagram states its the lid. Maybe the connector to whatever puts the machine to sleep when you close the lid. Its usually a button or a miniature magnet.

Gimmie a sec. I'll tear mine open and check whats connected to it.

Edit: Nothing vital it seems. Nothing is connected to it on my machine and it works fine.

Yup. Teo is, as usual, absolutely correct when it comes to ToughBooks. Not so sure about his choice of hometown, but hey; we'll annex them along with the rest of Canada soon enough. ;) CN62 is where I plugged in the "Texas board" for my EL Illuminated Keyboard.
