Could someone possibly give me the part number for a CF-28 (800Mhz) hard drive caddy? I think that I've found one (no picture available), but I want to make sure.

You're awesome. I'm leaving you my box o' wrong caddies in my will.

You can find them on ebay for $75 to $110... www.heartlandsi.com also has them new. I've heard different prices quoted from different people though. You can call Kara there at 913-685-8855. She is one of the nicest and hardest working people that you will ever meet. I won't deal with anyone else there. (Though they are all good people!)

Thanks to you all. I've given up on Ebay when it comes to this particular part. Two wrong caddies later, I've decided to buy from an actual distributor. I'll call Heartland tomorrow and check their price. Partstore.com has one for $120, same as UED. I thought I had found the right one (for $30 no less!) but I was sorely disappointed!

Please share what they are asking for them, please?

I just bought 4 on eBay, $69.99 each $12 total for shipping. I'm not sure how you're getting the wrong one as the 600mhz caddy is compatible with 800mhz machines (but not he other way around!). Mine are complete, like new, 3 days from pay to delivery.

The first time I ended up with a CF-72 caddy, sent it back and was promptly supplied with another one exactly like it. I was watching a group of CF-28 caddies, but I lose track of ending times and always miss out. -
Has anyone discovered a convenient substitute for the caddy?
Based on comments on the Forum and elsewhere I have suggested that the cable maker consider offering them for $30. or $35.
Anyone interested at that price?
I don't really need a HDD for my second CF-28 since Puppy Linux Frugal boots from the CD and runs in RAM. It will also save back to a rewritable CD or to a USB or PCMCIA memory device. A HDD is a nice-to-have but not unavoidable. -
Heartland has them for $86!!!!!

That is the complete assembly, caddy, cable, heater, and copper shield?
It is not much less than I paid for my 600MHz CF-28 but then it is a Toughbook - the "Hummer" of the laptop computer world.

Yes, the complete assembly. This thrills me. And I'm in the same boat as you, I only paid $109 for my Cf-28.
