Hi everybody. First, I want to say thanks for all of the awesome tutorials, advice and resources posted in these forums- they've kept me from having to post anything before this....
My CF-28 screen will not work at all (not just the backlight..there's no picture at all), and when I hook it up to a monitor, the POST starts and I can see it on the monitor, but when it comes time to boot XP, all goes black. I've tried Fn+F2, Fn+F3, etc....but no luck. There's no sound, either...just beeps if I keep hitting keys.
All was well until I disassembled the Toughbook. I was going to paint it, but after doing some research, I thought it was best to just leave it. I had the battery in while I took everything apart, so I figure I might have blown something. Does anyone know what could be wrong, specifically? Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks so much!

Yeah, that could definitely help. Thanks Tomcat...You know what's weird? I just started up the toughbook connected to the monitor and it actually gets through the POST and into booting XP with the logo, etc...and once Windows is actually about to start, it craps out and goes black, with no sound. I'm going to get looking at that fuse first of all. Thanks again for the quick reply!

Fn+ F3 might toggle to get the external display to work in windows
Or in the bios , F2 when booting select Simultaneous or both " not sure how it is stated"display options

Well, I've made some "progress"....I actually DO have faint picture on my lcd screen when the toughbook POSTs.. I guess it really could be that fuse you directed me to earlier. Also, the Fn+F3 didn't work, or switching it in the BIOS. But I found another problem: I broke the little plastic connector that holds my keyboard connection in place! I heard somewhere that if the keyboard is not connected properly that it could screw with the rest of the whole system. Is this true?

Ya..y....yay. Well! you probably need a new Mbo. I guess. Just take a look at it if the connector tab(latch, lock whatever) ear is still in place. Maybe its only out of place when you apply a bet of force on it and then get back to us. Now you have two problem a keyboard connector and an F4 fuse.

Ugh...thanks ohlip...This thing is pretty frustrating. I'll see what I can mess with. (is there a smiley that's pulling it's hair out?)
