Ok guys, I have essentially two new batteries, the main is the rayovac from batteries plus and the media bay is NOS panasonic. in the last few days it's developed a charging problem. the batteries are only at 5%main and 11%media and the laptop refuses to attempt to charge the batteries off or while running or it will flick on the charging symbol for a few moments but go back to ac power immediately when the computer is on. this is all happening on the windows xp taskbar. the charge light on the laptop itself remains constant orange the entire time. Is this a result of the charger going bad or is there something much worse afoot here?

Solved it myself, pulled the main, charges fine to the media batt. I left it alone for a little bit charging only the main and the light on the laptop indicated full, pulled the ac and the laptop died with the media battery removed. plugged it back into ac and got the orange charge then the red flashing light. This battery is less than 4 months old, I don't understand how it could have failed already...

NOS = New OLD Stock.... If these sit around for too long it is just as bad or worse than if they had been used. Other than that... I wouldn't buy anything but a Panasonic battery for the toughbook...

These batteries are getting VERY old... Good thing you don't have to escape The Red Planet!
