I recently purchased a refurbished CF-29 laptop, which I received yesterday. I plugged in the AC adapter and the battery light started blinking (orange). I have had it plugged in for several hours and every time I start the computer it shuts off after a few seconds. I there a way to run the computer on AC power without the battery and how long does it typically take to charge a battery? Thanks,

I think your battery is dead
Does it shut down on ac power or only on battery running?

Normally you can run the machine from ac power only.

Yea, you don't need a battery, they will run fine without it, unless it has other problems,
is the green power light to the right of the battery light lit with the power supply plugged in ?

While the AC is plugged in only the battery light flashes Orange. When the computer is powered up, the green light is lit for a short time. Do you think it might be a faulty power supply? I also noticed a wire near the PC card slot that wasn't connected, but I'm not sure where it goes. It is a black wire with a metal connector on the end. Thanks for your help!

If it is a refurb then it should have some kind of warranty ?
Might want to see what they will do for you before investing too much time, who knows what else is wrong with it ?

That is an antenna connection for a WLAN or WWAN card.

I would suggest you go into the bios and let it attempt to refresh the battery. I've seen it work, where it would then allow the battery to work, but at a diminished capacity (around an hour).

PM me if you can't get into the bios because of a password. They don't let us talk about such things in the forums.

Try to power on with the battery removed, and if it does shut down again, i think you have a problem.
