Ok I am used to monitoring my cpu every time i have to change the thermal paste. Now what is the normal temp for a cf-29 1.2ghz cpu?

Right now mine is running at 46c idle with the cpu @ 600mhz

When I run a anti-virus scan and a make the cpu hit 100% it will go up to 85c

Are these temps normal I have no idea on what to look for.

I used AS5 as the thermal conductor between the chips and heat sink.

Those temps are okay for a CF-29. Remember that their is no fan for these units, so it is normal to run hot... you could just hose it down with cold water to cool it too:laugh: :p

LOL :) Ya i though about it. I knew there was no fan for the units so they would run a little hotter but I was unsure of what temps to expect from it cuz dummy me never read the temps before I changed the thermal paste on the CPU and chipset.

I know the critical temp on it was 101c and i was hitting 85-88c running a virus scan on full CPU usage. It normally idles around 40c ish which is ok.

Thanks Rob I was starting to go crazy not knowing if these were ok temps. I searched all over the net but it brought up all kinds of hits because these units are advertised for hot and cold weather so they were just talking about the temps in which the TB can survive.

Ya I have tons of that stuff in the big and small tubes. Also have the white ceramic kind. I used As5 on the TB this time hoping it was ok :) I am glad too hear that is what you recommend.

I used to build high end desktop machines and use dry ice to benchmark them. It just get too costly to keep getting the newest hardware. I swear there is something new and faster out every week.

Zippy Man, I really like that program. My temps are running around 120 degrees during the day. The conditions vary from air conditioning to sometimes getting pretty hot in my van. I have never seen above 122 degrees, and that was one day with the outside temps in the mid 90's, and my generator, air compressor running, sitting in the sun. I had a couple of programs runnings at the time.
I hope this helps you some.

I have a question for you please. Why does my HD temp show 32 degrees? Yes, I switched it farenhieght! Like right now I show 106CPU Temp, and 32 degrees on my HD. I have looked everywhere for the problem and cant seem to find it.

Bump. Zippy-Man, Do you know why my HD Temp always reads 32 degrees. I installed the program you referred to above. I have all settings set at F. It does not move from 32????

Sounds like the program cannot read it correctly or the sensor on the drive has a problem.

When it is set on Celsius does it stay the same?

It is probably the program not reading it right. Best bet to see if the sensor is working is try another monitoring program and see if it reads a different temp.

James, I do have another reading, it shows 105 right now. I know the sensor works, must be the program.

Ya sounds like the program just cant read the HDD temp right. Must be a sensor it does not support. Thats a bummer because that program is pretty good and controls and monitors alot of things.

You are so correct. I do really like that program. I have a another small one installed that gives me my HD Temp, the read out is right next to it. There are some things I dont understand, but I will figure them out eventually.

Thanks James. Your a good man..........

Ok, back from the dead thread.... Today I saw my CPU temp was 149. How high can it go until I need to take action? Such as moving it to another location temporarily?

If it doesn't shutdown, why do anything?
