The fringerprint reader on the cf-30 is nice i mean i dunno how much you would use it but it is still cool to have.

Has anyone ever thought about trying to get one integrated into the cf-29? I finally found some pictures of the cf-30 fingerprint reader and where it is located but i am sure that is will not fit on the cf-29 right there as the space is too small and the wwan buttons are there. I was looking around on my cf-29 trying to think on how and where i could put one. Anybody have any ideas?

I would be interested as well, maybe adding it to my cf-19.
I think there is a kit available for both the cf-30 and the cf-19.
Has anyone here ever installed one?
I do know that if you have to make a cut-out for it on the palm rest area I would just forget about it as my modding skills leave a lot to be desired.
I don’t trust myself with a dremel tool.

I wish I had a fingerprint reader in my toughbook!... I had an IBM x30 which i bought a PCMCIA one (by APC) and it worked excellent! :D it just popped outta the side of the PCMCIA port and sat flush when not in use.

There is no need to cut anything in the 19, just an the installation.

Well on the cf-19 and cf-30 it is an option and by what i hear an easy add on if you don't have it.

I know the cf-29 and cf-18 never had this option so it would have to be something totally custom. I would not want to dremel my case or palm rest area either (even tho it would be great right there) There has got to be a way to get one on here. There are some brilliant minds on here so we gotta figure it out.

I was looking into just getting a PCMCIA fingerprint reader but the slots sit far in and i don't want to open the slot every time i want to use it. I have been sitting looking at my cf-29 just wondering where i could put it without major modification to the case.

It would be nice if it was toward the front as it would be best there i just don't see a good area. One place i thought of was where the sled sits. If you didn't have a sled there i bet you could fit a fingerprint reader inside the cover and the cn18 has usb2.0 on it making it even easier to do. But for the people that have a sled and use it that is kind of a bad area and i do not think you could make one fit.
