When I start this CF-29ETPGZKM I get a single flash of red at the MP light. This is the light left of the HDD indicator.
    It does this:
With-out drive in the media bay.
    With floppy.
    With DVD ROM.
Anyone know what that first flash means? On another unit it flashes green.

On the 29E the floppy and caddy work fine after the system boots and the MP light flickers green as normal.

I will take the bottom off and re-seat the cable tomorrow. I replaced the power/hdd connector for another reason. It did this before and after that fix.

No extra ram on board. I did the default thing in bios.

    Stumped but gaining.

    Jeff

The CF-29mk2/3 had a severe issue with frying the BIOS Chip, Thus causing no post, I have seen it cause this problem as well.

Of interest maybe...the batteries would not seat. Pulled the bottom case and ripped and replaced the battery/hdd connector. Easy. The battery seating problem was that one of the spade connectors in the plug was pointing down at an angle. Solder joint must have given up to allow this.
So now I'm thinking of checking for a cold solder joint in the caddy connector...or a mis-aligned cable where it fastens to the Mobo. Also teo suggested a toothbrush a while back (clean the cables etc)
    Thanks for that TBt. :)

I have heard of people putting whole MB in oven to gently reflow all solder joints.
