    Well,

For weeks now I've been searching for some CF-29 HD caddies to complete some projects. It seems they've been getting harder to find, and the prices going up for those that are available.

Not sure why they're drying up lately, but with promises having been made to deliver computers to three orphanages next month and my toughbook addiction in full swing, I got a little more aggressive with my ebaying.

That said, I won an auction for quite a few cf-29 caddies, and after installing the ones I need, I"ll still be holding quite a few, and so most will go back on ebay as soon as they arrive. Gotta pay for all I just bought.

Before ebay, I thought I'd offer them here to any forum member who might need one, and at a little better price. I'll have more than 40 cf-29 caddies.

** THIS IS NOT A FS THREAD, AS I DONT YET HAVE THEM IN MY HANDS.

I'm thinking of $75. each with $5.00 for priority mail in the Cont. USA.

As soon as they arrive and I check em out, I'll post in the B/S forum, so if your looking for some, stay tuned. We'll still be making a little money on these, but all profits will go to help pay for the next mission.

    Thanks,

    Sam

For the last few weeks they have been showing up as lots ,which is really a positive situation as they have been rare for over a year

The old days of picking them up at $50 are just a memory

We just did a successful bulk buy using Toughbooktalk forum of the optical CD drives from most likely the same seller

I call dibs on one as I believe that the latest CF-29 that I bought is missing the caddy
(I will have to confirm when I receive it)

It sounds like the profits are going to a good cause Sam, I am sure others here will feel the same way

    You’re correct Driller,

I saw it static at $600. And was drawn like a moth to a flame.

When it went north of $2500, I lost my mind and kept hitting the one click bid for the last ten seconds.

In the end, I think it should be a good buy for us. After paying the purchase price, and, when all the surplus caddies sell, we'll get the ones we needed for free and we'll still have money enough left to finish the Dominican Republic project next month.

    Thanks Alex,

I bought some four months ago for between $65 and $75 dollars each, then just two days ago shelled out $88 for one.

    One saved for you..............

Funny, while the work is rewarding, it's very often FUBAR. Our recent mission in El Salvador is still costing us, as our follow-up container is stuck in customs.

First they thought misc. medical supplies were drugs, though they were actually wheel chairs and walkers; then they held it because they thought the dry goods should have been listed another way on the shipping manifest.

Now, the whole orphanage is in quarantine with a measles outbreak, and so I'm still stuck paying the $10. a day for storage at the port.

On the bright side, I still have no snow on the ground here. :)

Good show buddy, given the nature of your work I wouldn't begrudge you a single cent of profit. I was on the verge of saying "Spend it Well" but I'm sure you will.
