i recently bought quite a few of cf-29E (mk2) toughbooks from my computer supplier and i can get all the drivers on it except for the LAN driver, it doesn't even have a tab for Network adapters in the device manager. Is it disabled in the BIOS or something? and if so how do i get around the password in the BIOS all the the computer are password protected since the guy i got them from got the computers from the San Antonio Police Department. Also i can't get some of the touchscreens to calibrate. I appreciate all the help I can get cuz these things are frustrating me. I'm using Windows XP SP2

    psychothrasher,
Welcome to the forum. First, circumventing supervisor/bios passwords is not discussed on this forum ever! Second, there is a sticky at the top of the forum where you can find every conceivable driver you might need. Third, your machine CF-29EWPNZBM doesn't show a LAN card because it doesn't have one! Check it out in the Toughbook Configurator on the US Panasonic site listed in the Drivers and Manuals Sticky. Finally, there has been much discussion of calibrating touchscreens, do a Google search of the forum and you will find what you need.

I have one of the exact model and it has a LAN even though the configurator doesn't show it. The only thing that is unique about this model is that they bolted down the battery door with security torx screws. I am guessing that the LAN is just disabled in the BIOS and you will just need to figure out how to get in to enable it.

PsychoThrasher... Welcome to the forums.... As you have heard... Discussion of how to bypass BIOS passwords is VERBOTEN. If you have any questions about this... Please either PM or email me. I have purchased laptops from PDs before. Usually they are VERY good about deleting the BIOS password if you either send it back to them or, if you are local, stopping by and giving it to their IT Manager. I deal with a few PDs and they usually jump on stuff like this. They don't want the password in there!

Thanks guys i can understand about the BIOS but it's just annoying that I bought about 150 of these bad boys from them and they all have the BIOS locked and i would take them back to them to get them erased but that is a hell of a shipping charge since they are in Austin and I'm in Houston and better yet taking it to someone locally for 150 of them would cost me a crap load of money too. As for the LAN card i figured they all came equipped with them since they do have the CatV port on the side underneath the 56k modem port. I've actually run across a few of them that the LAN works, I just figured it was luck of the draw or something. the touchscreens are just a royal pain in my behind

Just in case anyone cares I was able to get past the CMOS lock down. And all of the computers that i reset so far have LAN and WLAN on them so I'm pretty happy about my purchase now. Thanks for the pointers guys and if Anyone wants to buy a CF-29E I have hundreds of them so just e-mail me.
