Hello Toughbook People!
I'm doing a mic install on my CF-29 and I want to confirm a few points.
1. I will be using a 2 terminal mic.
2. The conn housing on the MB is 3 pin
When the laptop is open (eg, I'm looking at the LCD) it is my understanding that the RIGHT and MIDDLE pins are wired to the ground on the mic. The other PIN to the right (this one is closest to power, usb, rj11 on right side of laptop) is wired to the B+ pad of the mic.
As per the PINs on the MB, I have seen posts that only the middle pin and the PIN to right are used for 2 terminal mics.... Antoher states the the 2 pins to the right are wired together.
So the question is obviously which is right?
Thanks for the insight and especially hands on experience you faced if actually performing this mod yourself.
Thanks!

I forget which pins are wich. But just give it a shot. if you are only using those 3 pins, and hook them up wrong, it's won't break anything; the mic just won't work while hooked up.
I think I have a couple of the proper JST connectors lying around, btw. I don't know what shipping would be from the US to Finland. probably cost prohibitive. -

I appreciate the feedback but I just like to get things done correctly the first time. That's why understanding how the wiring is done would be nice to know....

Ok! pin 1 is to ground and pin 3 is the +. Pin 2, no connection.
got it?

All,
I think that it would be a great idea to outline instructions with accurate and precise information that is provided in writing and detailed with pictures and illustrations.
The modification on converting a CD carriage into a Master DVD carriage is an ideal example. Great photos and easy to understand instructions. Not one word was posted by forum members that they screwed this mod up.
Simply stating this is "A" this is "B" and this is "C" and that "D", leaves room for error. Especially if your the presenter and you have folks watching in front of you and others looking over your shoulder. What should be simple to understand becomes North=South, Yes=No and Left=Right.
I'm not a mind reader but that's my 2 cents. Got it? -
Asking for detailed instructions is a bit much. No one is obligated to make a guide for the masses.
If they do it, great! I've done it a few times.
But sometimes trial and error is the best way to learn.
And yes, I cleaned up the thread. Also, posting a PM is against forum rules. -
So I asked the guy giving away the $20 bills in the street why he couldn't be bothered gift-wrapping them and you know what he said?

We thought that you already know what you are asking. Just for clarification of the pin assignment.
It was already been detailed above that pin 1 is for ground and pin 3 is the + side. What answer do you want?
If you ask a question make it in detail so that we can answer you also in detail. This is not a panasonic customer support site.

First, UBUNTU4U2 if you want help, I would suggest you lose the attitude.
Second, we are not here to cater to you and hold your hand or give you everything on a silver platter because you think we should " outline instructions with accurate and precise information that is provided in writing and detailed with pictures and illustrations.
We are here to help people who APPRECIATE the time and efforts of the NBR members who are doing this for free and not get attitude back when everything is not laid out to your standards.
Maybe try to add value to the forum instead of sucking our souls... and you will get a more positive response next time.
Just my "2 cents"
peace.
