    The mk-3 uses 200 pins, SO-DIMM, 2.5 V, DDR SDRAM, PC2700 up to 1GB
PC3200 should work fine as well, but pc2100 is incompatable as is all ddr2 type

    No problem
The Mk3 is not as common as the other Cf-29's and we don't have as clear information on it as the others

    Hi,

when i take the ram cover off it looks as though there is a black block of plastic or something similar attached to it.....seems to be in the way of the memory stick....does this have to be removed to make it fit or is it there to keep it in??????

    thanks

    no,

just pulled the cover off again and it seems to be a very hard foam like material......no screws...think it must be glued on there....

The foam block is usually attached to the ram cover
Not to the ram module itself

Yes in comparison to ddr2 they are expensive here as well
The 512mb are less, if that will work as an upgrade

I have generally found that it is worth buying quality RAM just to reduce the odds of any problems that might pop up. Intermittent BSODs suck to diagnose, especially on a laptop.

Also, crucial.com has a memory analyzer which can tell you what OEM memory is intended for a system. Very useful.

I think that this will be changing, many of the newly surplussed CF-29s are Mark 3, like the ones from TigerDirect.

If I could jump on to this thread: I've got a cf29 mk1, with 504mb of RAM. Can I get a 1GB module and do the same? If so, what do I need? Thanks.

Yes--I've searched the forum a bit, and Alex says the 2700 is backwards compatible for the mk 1 cf 29.

The mk-1 will work with either pc2100 or pc2700 speed ram
Best to get pc2700 for universal compatibility with mk1/2/3
