I remember reading this somewhere on here but have searched and cannot find it. I have installed a media bay battery but it is not charging. I believe I need to go into the BIOS but have not found where. If you could point me in the right direction that would be very helpful. Thanks

It could be a bad battery.... The BIOS settings have nothing to do with whether it charges or not. It will charge your main battery FIRST and THEN your media bay battery... Likewise.... Your media bay battery is the first to be drained and THEN your main battery.

Do a recalibration and let it sit overnight.... You may be surprised...

And... Welcome to the forum! ;)

I have tried another battery and did a recalibration that I found on here but I still get the amber charging light on my media bay but when I unplug the power cord the battery is half full and says 65%. I go into power management and there is a red x on the second battery and it says 0%. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the help

Okay.... Are you saying that OVERALL your battery is at 65% or the media bay battery is at 65%?

The red X doesn't bode well for the condition of the media bay battery... However... If you are NOT getting the blinking red light.... I'd keep trying.... Charge and discharge everything as a group several times to see what happens.

    Please keep us posted!

Ya my overall battery is stuck at 65%. Could I have two bad batteries in a row?

Try removing the main battery and charging just the media bay battery.

USUALLY.... You'll see the blinking red lights.... Leave it plugged up overnight as some batteries need 5-6 hours to find out they are toast... And THEN will show their blinking red lights.... I have a media bay battery like that.... I actually have two of them.... Both dead.... One blinks red immediately.... The other takes 5-6 hours to show up as a bad battery.

    Just my .02

EDIT: Glen (Above) has a good idea there too.

Having tried what Glen and Toughbook have posted have condemed the second brand new battery I have recieved. They are sending me another as we speak. Was wondering if there was a way to rebuild these other two I have? Has anyone done it?

    Thanks

Nope.... If the chip inside tells it that it is bad... You can change whatever you want and it wont work. You'd need to reprogram the chip on the PCB inside the battery.

Possibly, if he's not getting any lights, he could open the battery pack and change the battery, since it uses a CF-72 battery. The circuit board is part of the battery case, the CF-72 battery connects to it. However, a CF-72 battery will probably cost more than a media bay battery.

    I wouldn't try it.

This happened because Li-Ion batteries will catch on fire if not charged perfecty. Just a simple 2 wire charge will not work safely for these.
