Hello,
This is my first post and time when CF-29 is trouble me to first-time-askSince 2009 until yesterday I work at Intel Core 2 Duo 4,4GHz and 4GB RAM computer where 512MB of graphics card and HDD fast 7200 A.P.H was no problem to untrouble work. Few hours ago I stay into Matsua Electronic Industrial Corporation TO THE END!! That little (13") crap of Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 is incredible strong and only thing I cant right to support is speed... Sorry but something-by-something. So I read almost all topics and google support pages looking answer for TOUCH SCREEN.
Most wanted problems with LAN and SOUND I'm allready done. Right now no.1 important problem to do is TOUCH SCREEN.
I have Eneble Bios Touch Screen option ON. I have installed by mouse-directory drivers supported motherboard product number but still i cant run finger-touch! Drivers are installed allright, calibration option is running-on but LCD doesnt pass first-of-nine-step-test. So I readed about order of installation. In my case I just installed XP and all drivers in letter-order from Panasonic support center... and wondering if I reinstall system once again and install driver mouse/touch screen first and after in letter-order other drivers (like a LAN, FKEY, GRAPHIC, SOUND) does it have more % to work-fine? What else can I do?
I admit there are topics supported that subject but posted on 2007-2008. Little help with ontop thanks

Suggest posting the full model number, like CF-29xxxxxxx
However it's possible/likely that the touchscreen itself has a hardware failure. That was a common problem for CF-29 models. -
Yeah I hope never read it again! So reading about CF-series product numbers I find double-failure informations:
1) This product number has TS
2) This product number has not driver support
My product number is 29-HTLGZBM. I hope so... by label... Tomorrow I still want to open it inside and maybe I find a SIM-card-portAnyway I cant find nowhere drivers with exacly same product number as my.
-
its a regular MK3, so download the MK3 drivers for XP on the Pany site>
If it does not past the calibration, the touchscreen is faulty ( a well known problem)
If you are in Europe, there is a guy in Germany that repairs them for 99 euro -
@denrosten - Yeap and I am on subject where from one hand I can't find working driver dedicated for computer motherboard, from the other hand I can't answer the question it is problem with drivers or technical demage on LCD panel... Any sugestion about driver not signed on product number for motherboard (mainboard) exacly?
-
one question- was touch screen wotking before?
one way to go is purchase factory discs for your mk 3-
and install factory image- see if it works- another way is to install alinux such as joli os or Ubuntu 10. xxx
Jeff- Sadlmkr might have good ideas also -
When you touch each red cross does it move to the next position as it should?
At the very edge of the screen is there any slight trace of a cursor when you touch the screen?
Would you be able to remove the screen rear casing and make a few simple resistance measurements if necessary? -
@UNCNDL1 - I don't know but story fit into all internet post's - driver's! I have not access to get original disc from Panasonic and only hope is knowledge that all drivers are avalible on official website of Panasonic Co. BUT! I CANT FIND ANY TOUCHPAD (mouse) AND TOUCHSCREEN ALGIN TO MY MOTHERBOARD! It is possible? I thing if someone could send address for product number decoder I be really glad. Becouse there are 29H.LG.BM (dot is diffrent lettet of product number code). So there is no supported?
@unclemack - No, after opening calibration tools first-red-cross is no-move to another corner. I try to pull finger really hard on screen useing pointer even... not working. LCD its look like TS beacouse there is protection cover. I cant understand question. -
Here is the correct touchpad/touchscreen driver for a CF-29 Mk3 with XP:
Touchscreen driver
If you get "This machine does not support" use WinRAR to extract the driver.
Install the driver thru the device manager by updating the mouse driver and pointing to the location of the touchpad/touchscreen driver -

When you calibrate the Touchscreen with the above linked driver try using a Touchscreen Stylus instead of your finger.

Eraser end of pencil if you don't have a stylus

@ db04p71 - Attempting to BIOS information product numbers are correct. I deinstall driver and remove files from hard disk then after restart install this one 'mouse_29_3_d030178' but still its looks like without deleting files from hard disk somewhere on C:/windows/... there is no option to reinstall drivers.
Sorry for again reactive old subject with is TS and I understand its from a lot of things putting together for answer the question.
I had done: bios config, few version of drivers, outsourcing application for TS and still its no idea what is the problem: it is TS LCD problem or drivers...
How much (in %) correct thining is reinstall system and install drivers in correct order: including install the first - mouse/touchpad screen driver? -
If u look in ur devicemanager, what do u see under "mouse and pointing devices"? I have an HID-conform mouse, where the driver comes from Microsoft and the touchpad/touchscreen device with an driver from Fujitsu.

Look at the attached link- ello.
Official Support Download Center of the Drivers, Manuals and FAQs | TOUGHBOOK | TOUGHPAD | Panasonic Global Notebook PC -
@orange_george - and I think I'll do it again with that support-table. I just reinstall graphics driver from official Intel Home Page useing their download center and right now computer is moveing very slow and what is very important - version of upgrade is higher.
Watched this PDF-pages there ae information step-by-step for each driver how to install and I never doing it dont activate a registry-key... So right now I re-watches again all know websites, download drivers and reinstall system.
Thanks. -

After a FRESH installation use the advice that has already been offered....

Am I correct latest update from 2008 WLAN_d080215.exe is pack of this drivers:
lan_29_3_d010626
wlan_29_3_d040790
modem_29_3_d031087
wlansw_29_3_d040755
? -
orange_george Notebook Evangelist
Yes....that is the latest update IF your unit still has the factory installed card.
-
OK, I just am after reinstall system and problems with TS is only from technical site. First driver installed was mouse/touchpad driver 29_3_d030178 dedicated into Panasonic Toughbook MK3 HT...B series only. I didn't install LAN or grahics drivers... long story short - didn't worked at all. Calibration option is still on first point in corner. Finger doesn't suply with LCD. I accept this is a LCD error and in few months will repair it to have good-working-touchscreen.
After reinstall windows and install drivers according to manual computer working grat! I can watch video-online-steam and only observe the more windows are run useing Adobe Flash Player the main-window runing slowest. So I need to find way-out for it too.
First time when I install drivers I did mistakes: install old version, then install upgrade and then other-driver SAME PRODUCT! So after install all drivers system has nice garbage on. Remeber to chose only one - latest update version of driver and install only needed drivers! This is importand becouse windows runing fast and there are no way to crush data.
If someone have problems or question about drivers please let be free to ask until I have fresh memoryI try to help as I can.
-
And my hope still burning! I start to configuration Windows OS - funny stuff becouse when user just to Windows Vista OS and typical laptop every new advice and drivers was automaticly updated from Windows Update. In Windows XP OS I feel like being taken to time machine trip where I remeber 2002 and next years useing this OS.
So hold on this search I find option in graphic card where is setup about Digital Flat Panel without driver. So maybe this is problem to fix? If diffrent drivers from Panasonic Support (to and to-not product number matherboard) and application designed for touchscreen didn't work as well as I think they supose too maybe driver to Digital Flat Panel (You can find it on desktop->settings->graphic card->Flat Screen Panel->settings->drivers) could help? Someone know ? -
After reading all the problems you have been having, I strongly recommend you purchase an official recovery disk. It would make things a lot easier.
Here is one on *bay
Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 Recovery CD - Restore CD
Also you can post on the Buy Sell Trade forum. A member may be able to help you out. -
@Shawn - Thank YOU! After few hours spended on reinstall and still sitting on Windows Upgrade Site... there come a new idea of clean drivers install ! But there is no bad issue until I learning something. Today I saw inside of CF-29 and clen it up. Drivers along to Panasonic also scear me not any more. I repair few problems and get know-how.
I search internet for .ISO this CD but there is only #bay options. Why I need to pay for something that I need to like a drivers. Beside I dont saw that .ISO and maybe this is the same stuff I already downloaded from Panasonic Supp. - nice boot menu, etc. make price and market. -

The reason Shawn has suggested the recovery CD is because you have been using drivers from the Intel site instead of the Panasonic site.... NOT GOOD.
Now....you have fixed some small problems with your Toughbook....We call this Toughbook Bonding.... THIS IS GOOD
Soon you will become Toughbook Expert....But you must have more Toughbooks.... YES. -
The recovery cd is a lot more than just the drivers. It is a complete image of the installed operating system (xp) as the factory installs it.
In 20 minutes you will have a complete working Toughbook as it was when it left Panasonic. Except for broken hardware.
I highly doubt you will find an iso or image of it on a torr*ent or download site. I have never seen or heard anyone finding one.
I know it seems like a bit of money, but it saves (as you have found out) many hours of frustration.
The *bay link I posted is a seller that is trusted here. He sells THE official recovery disk with the complete OS image. -
I might have missed it but I don't think anyone mentioned about going into BIOS.
Boot your machine. When you get to the blue Panasonic screen, hit F2. That should get you into the BIOS. First, verifiy the model number on page one. That should match what the label on the bottom shows. Next, hit the right arrow to get to the MAIN tab/page. About the fourth line down, it should show Touchscreen. If it doesn't, you don't have a touchscreen. If it does, see if the line shows Enable or Disable. If Disable, change it to Enable, save your changes on the Exit page and reboot. -

@ Shawn....Most people would agree, the recovery cd's are worth the money & most will agree the best place to start is with the stickies & faq's....good advice that often falls on deaf ears.
-
Some people listen. Others seem to enjoy hitting themselves on the head with a hammer.:rolleyes2: -
@rusty503 - Yes, I have this option in BIOS. Touchscreen Eneble. Infact I have protection-cover into screen... It's short looks like a popular problem with CF-29 TS. Issue is not close yet until find out RECOVERY CD and try to install it.

@circos....NOT a good idea to post information about downloading software, it's against forum rules.

Link I posted was for original cd's that came from Panasonic with a cf29. It's not that hard to understand. If you do it myself without paying for it , that is copyright infringement and no discussion of that is tolerated here.
I gave you the best solution for $35.00 or even less in the buy sell trade forum. How many hours have you wasted trying to avoid the best solution of spending the money? Time is worth a lot. Wild guess is you spent 8hrs so far. Do the math. If you figure you are worth $10.00 hr then you have already spent $80.00 trying to avoid spending $35.00.
And still looking for thrue answer We answered your cf29 questions. If downloading the drivers did not work for you, Buy the recovery cd
I am done posting in this thread. I get the idea that you don't want any answer that does not say what you want to hear.
Once again, Buy the cd and your driver installation issues will be gone.
Blair PLEASE close this thread.
Sorry guys, I guess I am a tad frustrated today. -
