Of course there is a longer story behind this but the Facts:
-I broke the touch panel on a working Mk1,
    - I installed a complete screen from a newer Mk but no touchscreen function. I enabled and disabled it in the bios, uninstalled and installed driver still no joy.
-I put another complete known good screen from a mk 4 and still no joy.

The newer MK's have a different driver than the MK 1, I tried installing the newer driver, but I got a message it is won't run on an older machine.

Is there any problem putting a newer screen on an older machine or do I need to head in a new direction?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Use WinRar to unextract the newer driver to a folder ( it bypasses that nuisance message) and you will be able to update

    Tim,
I have just swapped the touch screen from a MK2 to a MK4 and all is working well. The now non-touch, for some unknown reason, MK4 display is functioning fine on the MK2, just no touch. The touch function died whilst on the MK4. Good to see you around, did you buy the boat in Point Arena?

Based on my experienced with cf-29 lcd, they are all swappable and the touchscreen also to all of them. I guess there something wrong on the Mbo. I say check the F5 on TS supply voltage.

If your cursor is retreating to the lower right corner you most likely have a bad touchscreen. You can TRY to clean out the space between the screen bezel and the touchscreen itself. See if you can dig out anything with a thin piece of plastic. (I think Capt.Dogfish had the excellent idea of using the thickness of a 2 liter soda bottle.... Maybe a bit thinner. You can also try carefully digging around the touchpad. I have seen sand or dirt cause that issue... But more and more it is because of bad touchscreens.

Thanks Rick! This is just one of those toughbooks from hell. I've had 3 screens on it, spent countless hours reloading drivers, digging crap out of screens, taking screens apart etc.

I'm convinced this will be the worlds best toughbook when I finally get it to submit.

    Thanks again!
