I have a CF-29N that has a sierra wireless 1X EV-DO internal card. I trying to use it to connect to the Verizon Wireless network. I am using VZ access manager and the program is saying at the bottom of the window that the device is disabled. I look in the device manager the sierra wireless network adapter has a yellow exclamation mark on it, also under the Ports (COM&LPT1) serial port also has a yellow exclamation mark. I have no idea how to re-enable this card for use, I have loaded all the normal drivers that go with these laptops when they are being configured. any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sounds like the correct drivers are not installed and does the CF29 have dipswitches like the CF30/19?

Are you sure its even a Verizon card and not Sprint?

these are Verizon only toughbooks, this is the first toughbook that I have seen on my desk that has had the internal aircard disabled. the CF-29 only has a push button on the lower left side of the laptop and it is on.

CF-30 HSDPA 3.6 sled does have dip switches. They are hard to see and have the same settings as a CF-19. CF-29 HSDPA sled does not have any dip switches.

I am trying to post an image of the error screen but the picture I took with my cellphone is 2.10 MB and it is too large.

called heartland and they told me the only options I have is to press F-9 at the bios and set it to default, and if that did not work then send it in while it is out of warranty so they can replace the card. I have swapped the card out for a known good and working card and it still comes up as disabled. I have run out of places to look to re-enable this card, any of the toughbook experts please chime in with help.

OK, I found the solution after much googling, I opened Device Manager and right clicking the Serial Port with the exclamation mark and uninstalling it from the system, then just reboot and windows will reinstall it and the aircard works just fine afterwards. I rebooted and connected 5 times just to verify and all is good.
