I own a CF-29 MK1 I use mainly for computer remote programming and ham radio uses. Don't really need a CD-ROM or floppy drive. my questions is If i put a CF-VZSU1428W (media bay battery) and CF-VZSU29A (yellow tab 7.4ah battery) batteries what is some of the battery hours i can plan on getting with wifi turned on? does the media bay battery charge off the media bay? thanks

    Welcome to the forum!

When both batteries are installed (Main and Media Bay) the AC adapter will charge the main battery first and then the media bay battery.

Depending on screen brightness, battery wear and CPU usage you can expect anywhere from 3-7 hours on both batteries. Maybe more if the batteries are in good shape, have been exercised and/or recalibrated...

thanks, this is my CF-29 MK1 it was a government surplus so it already had gps and verizon wireless card in it (even tho i don't use the verizon card). it has a 40GB drive upgraded to 320GB with dual boot system running Windows xp pro and DOS 6. Also has 750mb RAM someday i would like to get that to 1GB ram. I have always wanted one and found this one for 300.00 with a working touch screen and rubber back lite keyboard couldn't pass it up.

Looks nice and clean! Yeah... You want to max out the RAM and maybe think of tweaking XP or running W7 maybe... Or a Linux flavor.

DOS 6??? what do you need/use that for?

just because i can have DOS and it was sitting around lol. I like the Windows xp pro. I have 3 computers with windows 7 already. I have think about linux and played with linux but not too sure if my remote computer software will run on it. the biggest problem i have right now is the speaker system isn't working and i see the speakers are hard to find replacements for now. also i need to upgrade the wifi in to ENGEMP8602+S because someone put a wifi card in it that didn't come factory with them and it cuts the wifi in and out and doesn't support a lot of the wifi security out there these days. the wifi card new is only 15.00 but the speaker i might not be able to find a good one. kind of scared to buy a used speaker and i hear they all was common to give out. the one thing i love about the CF-29 is i have washed it in my kitchen sink before lol

What makes you think the speaker is gone, no sound ? could be a driver problem.

I have several EnGenius cards if you need one... PM me if interested. They also seem to have a deal from a seller on ebay.

Glad you got your speaker working. I do have a new one in the box from when I repaired 29s all the time.
