I fell in love with the CF-28 toughbooks after I got my hands on one a friend owned.

I've bought three, fixed them up and added wi-fi, gave one to my parents, sold one, and kept the third.

I just bought a CF-29 and absolutely love the brighter screen and the changes, but the one I picked up lacks a few of the rubber covers, does anyone know a good place to order them? Its the power, the USB and the serial cover that are missing.

    Its a ultra-low-voltage 1.2 with 512 onboard memory.

Here you go.... Call www.Heartlandsi.com (No affiliation, blah, blah, blah) @ (913) 685-8855. Kara is who I deal with but anyone who answers the phone can help you. Make sure you have your complete model number ready. (Found on the bottom or in the BIOS) Ask for the following.....

    DC CN Cover - DFHR6066YA-0 - $1.13
    USB CN Cover - DFHR6103YA-0 - $1.13
    LAN CN Cover - DFHR6104WA-0 - $1.09

And if you need/want an extra one or yours is missing... The one in back...

    SERIAL CN Cover - DFHR6090ZB-0 - $1.13

They have excellent prices but nail you on overnight shipping. (But it is TRUE overnight shipping... Not, "We'll take a week to process it and then ship it overnight!") Orders placed before 3:30pm their time (Kansas) ship same day unless they are insanely busy. (Which they have been.) I love dealing with them. Everyone there goes out of their way to help you! And they will refund you if you order the wrong part. (30 day return policy) Gee... Can you tell that I have ordered there a few times? I sound like I work there.

I just ordered 4 each of all 4 plastic covers for future projects.

    TB -

Weren't we gonna make a sticky of Toughbook parts & suppliers so people can find it easily? Maybe a list of commonly needed part numbers (covers & battery & such) so people don't have to ask every time? Or was this supposed to get added to the Forum FAQ & it's still "in process"?

Yeah, bend over and lube up for the Heartland shipping. When you talk to Kara, (the shipping thing is not her policy) be sure to mention that some of us humps and bimbos out here really could survive with cheaper shipping and to pass that info along to the person that made that decision.

Maybe if enough of us mention it, maybe it will sink in.

Yeah... I mentioned that to her but I am usually in a rush for the parts anyway.

You guys are amazing, this is by far the most helpful forum I've ever been involved in.

I hope I can give back with some of my own work and hacks.

It's definitely a FUN group without the egos and a-holes that most other forums have. (At least the ones I have seen)

We're all glad to help others. We were all where you are now at one point.

What? Spending a large chunk of your spending money on toughbooks because they're fun, fixing them up because they should be in good shape, and getting them out to other people because they are just begging to be used? :D
