Anyone installed this one? Please share your opinions.

I have seen pictures where the upper panel on the left side of CF-29 (just on top of battery) is replaced with a sealed door under which lays SIM socket. Also left from the handle an empty panel is replaced with some "indicators", one of them looks like a signal strength display. I'm interested in more information about this mod.

    1. What is included in this kit (is door panel included with SIM socket board)?
    2. Is SIM socket board also a GPRS/EDGE modem?
    3. Is there an external antenna included? I have seen pictures of slim long antenna located on the Toughbook corner.

    Thank you!

There are many configurations the ones I have seen like you describe are for Verizon which uses EVDO/CDMA and do not use a simm card. The CF-29 that I used to have came with a SONY erickson pcmcia card in one of the slots the card itself had the simm slot and there was a coax routed to the LCD retractable antenna. This was a setup for Cingular now ATT. Most of these options have to be configured at the factory and if you buy the modems on EBay you may not get all the cables and antenna or other required parts to complete the setup.
