So I decided to reinstall the WWAN antenna in my CF-29 yesterday. Had a feeling I'd get crappy reception. Turns out you shouldn't disassemble computer after having a few glasses of scotch. Cause it seems i left something out.

Where does this part go? It works fine without it, but leftover parts always leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Hmmm, that has happened to me when building a car engine, run perfect for many years after, god knows where the bit was supposed to go and more importantly what it did!

I did that once too. Forgot a bolt, but couldn't fine a place for it. Fifty miles later the transmission fell out...

Funny story about extra parts. When I was in my early teens, I was helping dad do a car repair. When we were done we had this shiny metal sleeve like part left over. It was probably 2 inches in diameter and 3/4 inch deep. No idea where it went or what it was. We asked at the dealer and auto parts store. Checked all the manuals etc.. Several hours or maybe even days later, we figured it out.
It was the cover for the gear assembly on our 1/2 drive ratchet.

Yup... Cable lock... Thing is.. Not all Toughbooks have them. Most I have seen do not have them. Not sure if they had been taken apart prior to me getting them but they fall out easily! But it's easy to slide them back in.

I've made some interesting discoveries that way. Not everything that's worth knowing comes from doing what you planned.

As the drunk said to the lunatic: I'd rather have a free bottle a' front of me than a prefrontal lobotomy.

    Shawn.

    LMFAO:laugh:

Being an ex mechanic I can sympathise with that problem, as well as the Kensington Lock bit. I have lots of little boxes with left over bits and screws from things - I'm sure I'll have enough soon to build a new car / computer combo.

    Cheers
